About Company:
AREWA24 was launched in 2014 to fill a glaring void of locally-produced Hausa language entertainment and lifestyle programming that authentically reflects Northern Nigerian life, culture, music, film, art, cooking and sports. Today, AREWA24 is available to over 80 million Hausa speakers across Nigeria and in neighboring countries.
Job Description:
AREWA24 is looking for a master storyteller to join our team as a Senior Video Editor. In this role, you aren't just cutting clips; you are the architect of the final narrative. We need a creative leader who understands the "grammar" of cinema—someone who can manipulate pacing, rhythm, and emotion to deliver world-class film and television content.
As a Senior Editor, you will sit at the heart of our creative pipeline, collaborating with directors to transform raw footage into compelling television, feature films, and digital content. If you possess 8+ years of experience navigating complex timelines and have the technical depth to lead junior editors through a professional post-production workflow, we want your vision.
Requirements:
1. Narrative Architecture & Visual Rhythm
Creative Collaboration: Work alongside directors and producers to interpret scripts and storyboards, shaping the tone, pacing, and emotional impact of every scene.
Master Storytelling: Lead the offline and online editing process, moving from assembly and rough cuts to fine cuts and final picture lock.
Continuity & Clarity: Maintain the highest standards for visual consistency and narrative flow across scripted and unscripted formats.
2. Technical Mastery & Workflow Governance
Expert Toolkit: Demonstrate master-level proficiency in Avid Media Composer (for studio workflows) and Adobe Premiere Pro.
High-Res Pipelines: Manage workflows for RAW, LOG, and 4K/6K/8K formats, ensuring seamless integration with VFX artists, colorists, and sound designers.
Standards & Specs: Ensure all final masters meet strict technical delivery specifications for broadcast television, streaming platforms, and digital media.
3. Leadership & Post-Production Management
Mentorship: Supervise and provide creative guidance to junior and assistant editors, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
Resource Optimization: Efficiently manage large volumes of footage and complex multi-camera timelines under tight studio deadlines.
Innovation: Stay at the forefront of evolving editing trends, HDR/Dolby Vision standards, and cloud-based collaboration pipelines (e.g., Frame.io).
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Experience: Minimum 8 years of professional editing experience in high-end film or television environments.
Portfolio: A proven showreel demonstrating exceptional narrative instincts and cinematic pacing.
Communication: Ability to take complex creative feedback and translate it into precise technical edits.
Technical Competencies
Software: Expert in Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere Pro. Knowledge of DaVinci Resolve workflows is highly preferred.
Post-Production IQ: Solid understanding of codecs, color pipelines, sound design basics, and conforming processes.
Operational Agility: Ability to troubleshoot technical challenges and manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.
