Job Description:
- The Sales Manager is responsible for driving sales growth of agro-chemical products by managing the sales team, developing distribution channels, building strong relationships with farmers and trade partners, and executing market development activities while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Planning & Execution:
- Develop and implement territory-wise sales plans in line with company objectives
- Achieve assigned sales targets for agro-chemical products across crops and seasons
- Prepare accurate sales forecasts and monitor performance against targets
Team Management:
- Lead, train, and motivate the field sales team to achieve high performance
- Conduct regular field visits, joint calls, and performance reviews
- Identify training needs and support capability development of the team
Channel & Distribution Management:
- Appoint, manage, and strengthen distributors, dealers, and retailers
- Ensure optimal product availability and inventory management across the territory
- Monitor collections, credit limits, and resolve channel-related issues
Market Development & Promotion:
- Plan and execute product promotions, demonstrations, and farmer meetings
- Support new product launches and drive adoption through field trials
- Ensure effective product positioning and communication of technical benefits
Farmer & Influencer Engagement:
- Build long-term relationships with farmers, progressive growers, and key influencers
- Engage agricultural consultants, extension officers, and opinion leaders
- Address farmer concerns and provide market-driven solutions
Market Intelligence & Reporting:
- Monitor competitor activities, pricing strategies, and market trends
- Gather feedback on product performance and customer needs
- Submit timely sales reports, market insights, and forecasts to management
Cross-Functional Coordination:
- Coordinate with marketing, technical, and supply chain teams
- Ensure correct technical messaging and responsible product usage
- Provide field inputs for marketing strategies and product improvements
Compliance & Stewardship:
- Ensure adherence to regulatory, environmental, and safety guidelines
- Promote responsible use, handling, and storage of agro-chemical products
- Maintain ethical sales practices as per company policies
Budget & Expense Management:
- Manage sales budgets, promotional expenses, and travel costs
- Ensure effective utilization of resources and ROI on sales activities
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or related field (MBA preferred)
- [5–7] years of sales experience in the agro-chemical / agri-input industry
- Proven experience in team and channel management
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Good understanding of crops, pests, and agro-chemical products
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
- Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory
Salary
