Job Description:
We are seeking a high-caliber, results-oriented Business Development Manager to lead our growth initiatives in the messaging and fintech space. Based in Lekki, Lagos, you will be responsible for driving the adoption of our WhatsApp, SMS, Voice, and Utility Payment solutions. This role is designed for a strategic "hunter" with a deep understanding of the Nigerian tech and banking ecosystems. You will forge high-value partnerships, navigate complex sales cycles across both public and private sectors, and execute data-driven strategies to expand our market share. The ideal candidate is a persuasive communicator who can turn technical product features into compelling business value for B2B and B2G clients.
Requirements:
1. Market Expansion & Strategic Prospecting
Sector Penetration: Identify and analyze emerging trends to develop actionable strategies for penetrating key verticals (Banking, Retail, Public Sector, etc.).
Pipeline Engineering: Actively generate high-quality leads through cold calling, networking, and industry events, maintaining a healthy pipeline to meet aggressive monthly/quarterly targets.
Competitor Intelligence: Conduct ongoing market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities for service innovation and service-market fit.
2. Full-Cycle Sales & Product Advocacy
Deal Orchestration: Manage the end-to-end sales cycle—from initial prospecting and conducting technical product demos to negotiating complex contracts and closing.
Value-Based Proposals: Develop compelling business cases that demonstrate how our cloud-based messaging and utility platforms solve specific client pain points and drive automation.
Public & Private Engagement: Build strategic influence within both private corporations and public sector organizations to strengthen the company’s regional presence.
3. Relationship Architecture & Lifecycle Management
Partnership Stewardship: Build and maintain long-term, high-value relationships with strategic partners, vendors, and key stakeholders.
Revenue Retention: Ensure high customer satisfaction while actively managing account renewals and identifying opportunities for upselling and cross-selling.
Intelligence Reporting: Prepare accurate, data-driven reports on sales activities, financial status, and competitor movement for executive decision-making.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education & Technical Edge
Academic: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, IT, Banking, Marketing, or Economics.
Professional Advantage: Possession of CIBN, ACA, CFA, or equivalent qualifications is highly preferred.
Software Mastery: Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and the MS Office Suite.
Professional Experience
Tenure: Minimum of 5 years of dedicated experience in Business Development or Account Management, preferably in the Banking or Tech sectors.
Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success in exceeding revenue targets and managing complex B2B sales cycles.
Industry IQ: Deep understanding of cloud-based solutions, banking workflows, and automation processes.
Core Competencies
Negotiation & Presence: Exceptional ability to conduct product demos and present to C-suite executives.
Autonomy: Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while remaining a collaborative team player.
Local Insight: Strong understanding of the Lagos business environment; professional fluency in English and local languages.
