Job Description:
We are seeking a high-impact, operationally driven Regional Retail Sales Manager to architect and execute our mass retail coverage strategy. This is a critical leadership role for an FMCG veteran who understands the complexities of the Lagos retail market and can build a world-class distribution network from the ground up. You will be responsible for developing a robust outlet database, optimizing route-to-market plans, and leading a high-performing sales team through active field accompaniment. The ideal candidate is a "player-coach" who can use data-driven insights to refine pricing and assortments while ensuring our products are dominant on every retail shelf in the region.
Requirements:
1. Route-to-Market (RTM) & Coverage Strategy
Network Architecture: Develop and maintain a comprehensive retail outlet database, segmenting high-potential merchants to maximize reach.
Coverage Optimization: Design efficient outlet coverage and beat plans that ensure consistent product availability while minimizing logistical friction.
Territory Expansion: Lead the Lagos regional strategy with a view toward scaling operations into other Nigerian regions.
2. Field Leadership & Team Performance
Hands-on Coaching: Lead from the front through "Field Accompaniment," working alongside Sales Reps to activate new outlets and refine their sales pitch.
Performance Analytics: Use data and dashboards to critically analyze Rep performance, identifying bottlenecks and implementing corrective training.
Capability Building: Responsible for the continuous training and professional development of the retail sales team to ensure long-term productivity.
3. Trade Marketing & Commercial Excellence
Campaign Activation: Drive trade marketing initiatives and promotional campaigns to accelerate merchant adoption and consumer pull.
Insights-Driven Assortment: Use market intelligence to refine product assortments and pricing strategies, ensuring our offerings remain competitive.
Stakeholder Synergy: Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders (Logistics, Marketing, Finance) to ensure a seamless outlet coverage operation.
Qualifications and Skills:
Experience & Academic Standards
Academic: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
Tenure: 8+ years of robust experience in Retail Distribution within a reputable FMCG company.
Track Record: Proven success in developing mass retail channels specifically within the Lagos region.
