We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Description:
- The Mechanical Lead Consulting Engineer provides expert leadership and technical direction across all mechanical engineering consulting projects.
- This role involves managing project planning, design, supervision, and implementation of mechanical systems — ensuring that all solutions meet client requirements, technical standards, and industry best practices.
- The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strategic project management and strong leadership capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Management:
- Lead, plan, and oversee the execution of mechanical engineering projects from concept to completion.
- Define project scope, objectives, budgets, and deliverables.
- Manage design, documentation, and project schedules to ensure quality and timely delivery.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (electrical, civil, and structural engineers) and external contractors.
- Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
Technical Design & Consultancy:
- Provide expert consultancy on mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and industrial systems.
- Develop detailed mechanical designs, load calculations, specifications, and BOQs.
- Review, validate, and approve engineering drawings and technical submissions.
- Ensure all designs comply with ASHRAE, ISO, NFPA, BS, and relevant local standards.
- Evaluate system performance and recommend energy-efficient and sustainable design solutions.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Act as the primary technical representative to clients, providing professional advice and solutions.
- Prepare and present technical proposals, feasibility reports, and tender documentation.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients, vendors, and regulatory authorities.
- Support business development efforts through technical input and proposal writing.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Establish and enforce quality control procedures across all project stages.
- Ensure all mechanical systems meet statutory, health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Conduct design reviews, site inspections, testing, and commissioning.
- Prepare comprehensive project reports and technical documentation.
Leadership & Mentorship:
- Supervise, train, and mentor junior mechanical engineers and technical staff.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and technical excellence.
- Lead performance evaluations and promote adherence to professional and ethical engineering standards.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Quality and accuracy of mechanical design outputs.
- On-time, on-budget project completion rate.
- Client satisfaction and retention.
- Compliance with technical and safety standards.
- Team development and performance improvement.
Requirements:
Educational Qualification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Master’s degree in Engineering Management or related field is an added advantage.
Certifications:
- NSE, COREN registration preferred.
- Certified Lead Auditor in ISO 9001 is required (additional certifications in ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or API Q1/Q2 are a plus).
- Project Management certification (PMP/PRINCE2) is an added advantage.
- HSE Certification (Level 1–3) is an advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering consulting and project management.
- Proven track record in mechanical systems design (HVAC, plumbing, fire systems, and industrial installations).
- Experience managing large-scale building services, manufacturing, or infrastructure projects.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, SolidWorks, or HVAC simulation tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
- In-depth understanding of energy efficiency, sustainability, and green building systems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively under pressure.
