About Company:
Syx-Brij Nigeria Limited - Our client, Bergstein Hospital, Ikorodu, is the flagship facility of Bergstein Health Systems. We are building a structured, standards-driven healthcare institution grounded in clinical excellence, accountability, and operational discipline.
Job Description:
Bergstein Health is recruiting a disciplined and high-performing HMO Billing Officer to join our founding team in Ikorodu, Lagos. We are not hiring for routine employment; we are building a performance-driven culture where financial accuracy and claims integrity are paramount.
As an HMO Billing Officer, you are the architect of our revenue cycle. Your mission is to ensure that every medical service provided is accurately coded, documented, and reimbursed without delay. You will bridge the gap between clinical services and financial recovery, navigating the complexities of both private HMOs and the NHIA. If you thrive in fast-paced environments and possess an uncompromising eye for detail, we want you to help build our financial foundation.
Requirements:
1. Claims Lifecycle & Submission Excellence
Technical Preparation: Ensure all services are correctly coded and documented according to HMO-specific tariffs and guidelines before submission.
Eligibility Vetting: Rigorously verify patient coverage and authorizations before service delivery to eliminate preventable claim denials.
Timely Filing: Manage strict submission windows to ensure the hospital’s cash flow remains consistent and predictable.
2. Reconciliation & Financial Recovery
Discrepancy Resolution: Reconcile HMO accounts daily, identifying and resolving "short-payments" or denied claims with clinical and finance teams.
Proactive Collections: Maintain a persistent follow-up system with HMO providers to reduce the "Accounts Receivable" days and ensure zero aging of valid claims.
Audit Documentation: Maintain an impeccable audit trail of all billing records, supporting both internal financial reviews and external HMO audits.
3. Reporting & System Optimization
Performance Analytics: Generate weekly and monthly reports on claims status, outstanding balances, and collection efficiency to inform management decisions.
Compliance Stewardship: Ensure all billing activities adhere to both National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) standards and internal hospital policies.
Software Mastery: Utilize hospital billing software and Microsoft Excel to automate trackers and early-warning systems for nearing submission deadlines.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accounting, Health Information Management, or Business Administration.
Experience: 2–4 years of direct experience in HMO Billing or Hospital Revenue Cycle management.
Industry Knowledge: Strong familiarity with NHIA and private HMO billing systems/tariffs.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Advanced) and modern Healthcare Management Software.
Core Competencies
Extreme Attention to Detail: The ability to spot a single coding error in a high-volume batch of claims.
Analytical Reconciliation: Strong skills in balancing ledgers and identifying the root cause of financial discrepancies.
Negotiation & Persuasion: The ability to liaise effectively with HMO representatives to expedite payments.
Integrity: Absolute professional ethics in handling financial data and sensitive patient records.
