Job Description:

We are seeking a disciplined and tech-savvy Account Officer to join our team in Surulere, Lagos. In this role, you will be the guardian of our campus financial cycles, ensuring that every invoice is sent, every payment is captured, and every Naira is accounted for in our Xero ERP system.

This is a high-impact position that requires a blend of meticulous bookkeeping and proactive communication. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of Accounts Receivable and Payable, from resolving billing discrepancies to ensuring our tax compliance. Requirements:

1. Revenue Cycle & Xero ERP Management

  • Invoicing & Billing: Manage the end-to-end billing system, ensuring invoices are generated with 100% accuracy and dispatched according to strict deadlines.

  • Payment Allocation: Monitor and collect outstanding payments, ensuring they are promptly allocated within the Xero ERP to maintain real-time financial visibility.

  • Discrepancy Resolution: Act as a detective to research and resolve any discrepancies between invoices and receipts, ensuring the ledger remains balanced.

2. Receivables Monitoring & Reconciliation

  • Debtor Management: Perform regular reconciliations of all debtor accounts, identifying and flagging non-payments or delayed payment patterns.

  • Campus Liquidity: Maintain the campus imprest and manage expense payments, ensuring all petty cash and operational spending are posted promptly in Xero.

  • Irregularity Reporting: Maintain a high level of vigilance for irregularities in customer account details, proactively protecting the organization from financial leakage.

3. Compliance & Financial Analysis

  • Tax Governance: Ensure all transactions and billing activities align with Nigerian Taxation Laws, specifically regarding WHT and VAT where applicable.

  • Reporting: Generate timely reports on collections, billing status, and aging receivables to support management decision-making.

  • Data Integrity: Use advanced MS Excel skills to analyze financial trends and provide creative solutions for improving collection efficiency.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

  • Education: B.Sc or HND in Accounting or Finance.

  • Experience: 1–3 years of relevant accounting and finance experience.

  • Certification: ACA/ACCA/MBA is a significant added advantage.

  • Technical Stack: Proficiency in MS Office Suite (specifically Excel) and familiarity with Xero ERP or similar cloud-based accounting systems.
