Job Description:
We are seeking a visionary Head of Sales & Marketing to spearhead the commercial transformation of our HMO. In an era of mandatory health insurance and evolving NHIA regulations, you will be the primary architect of our market expansion. This is a high-impact leadership mandate requiring a blend of sophisticated corporate negotiation, retail distribution strategy, and brand storytelling. You will lead a multi-channel sales force (Corporate, SME, Broker, and Retail) to drive premium income while ensuring our brand promise aligns perfectly with healthcare delivery.
Requirements:
1. Revenue Architecture & Market Expansion
Strategic Growth: Develop and execute the annual sales roadmap to achieve aggressive premium income targets across corporate, retail, and SME segments.
Channel Diversification: Optimize the Broker and Agency networks while identifying new distribution partnerships and untapped market niches.
Pricing Strategy: Collaborate with Underwriting and Finance to lead data-driven pricing and proposal development that balances competitiveness with sustainability.
2. Key Account Management & Retention
Relationship Diplomacy: Build and maintain high-level relationships with blue-chip corporate clients, strategic brokers, and NHIA stakeholders.
Retention Leadership: Direct the contract renewal process, ensuring high loyalty through proactive service quality monitoring and client engagement.
Value Expansion: Identify opportunities for cross-selling and up-selling value-added health services and premium plans.
3. Brand Authority & Market Intelligence
Integrated Marketing: Oversee high-impact digital and field marketing campaigns that strengthen brand visibility in a crowded healthcare market.
Data-Driven Strategy: Conduct rigorous market research to monitor competitor pricing trends and shifting customer needs, translating insights into strategic pivots.
Product Innovation: Lead the launch of new health products, ensuring they are positioned effectively to solve specific market pain points.
4. Leadership, Governance & Compliance
High-Performance Culture: Mentor and lead a diverse sales team, setting clear KPIs and fostering an environment of ethical selling and professional excellence.
Regulatory Guardianship: Ensure all commercial activities strictly adhere to National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) guidelines and internal compliance policies.
Cross-Functional Synergy: Work with Claims and Provider Management teams to ensure that the "Sales Promise" is backed by seamless healthcare delivery.
Qualifications and Skills:
Academic & Professional Foundation
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Insurance, or Economics.
Prerequisite: A Master’s Degree (MBA or related) is mandatory.
Certification: Professional membership (e.g., NIMN, CIIN) is highly desirable.
Experience & Expertise
Tenure: 8–12 years of progressive experience, with at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership role.
Sector Knowledge: Deep experience within the HMO, Health Insurance, or Financial Services sectors is essential.
Track Record: Proven history of exceeding multi-billion Naira premium targets and managing complex broker relationships.
