Job Description:

We are seeking a highly analytical, disciplined, and seasoned Head of Operations to take full ownership of our lending architecture, credit governance, and overall portfolio performance. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be the operational anchor overseeing the end-to-end loan lifecycle from initial application vetting and credit risk assessment through to secure disbursement and aggressive portfolio monitoring.

This role is critical to maintaining a healthy balance between rapid business growth and strict credit discipline, ensuring absolute compliance with relevant state frameworks while maximizing operational efficiency.

Requirements:

Credit Governance & Committee Leadership

• Committee Management: Lead, coordinate, and chair Credit Committee activities, establishing clear risk evaluation benchmarks to ensure precise and timely credit approvals.

• Risk Vetting: Perform advanced credit assessments on high-value applications, analyzing credit histories, income patterns, and alternative data scoring models.

• Inter-Departmental Sync: Partner closely with Sales, Risk Management, and Recovery units to continually optimize credit parameters and structurally minimize default rates.

Lending Operations & Lifecycle Management

• End-to-End Processing: Manage and streamline the full loan processing cycle from submission to payout, ensuring strict adherence to turnaround time (TAT) metrics.

• Disbursement Safeguards: Oversee stringent disbursement controls to guarantee data integrity, eliminate payout errors, and protect corporate liquidity.

• Systems Architecture: Supervise the Core Lending Management System, ensuring real-time data accuracy, system optimization, and reliable transaction logs.

Regulatory Compliance & Financial Reporting

• Regulatory Compliance: Enforce complete alignment with the Lagos State Money Lending Regulations, federal financial statutes, and internal risk mitigation policies.

• KYC & AML Control: Maintain airtight Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) audit readiness across all active and archived credit files.

• Executive Metrics: Compile and present comprehensive weekly portfolio performance briefs to the CEO, offering granular analysis on Non-Performing Loans (NPLs) and market trends.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education & Background

• Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related quantitative discipline.

• Track Record: 4–6 years of progressive experience in retail lending, credit operations, microfinance banking, or digital fintech services.

Technical Competencies

• Risk Fluency: In-depth technical mastery of credit risk methodologies, loan amortization tracking, and advanced PAR/NPL mitigation frameworks.

• Tool Stack: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (financial modeling, pivot tables) and deep operational experience with modern cloud-based Loan Management Systems (LMS).

• Regulatory Knowledge: Sound, working familiarity with Nigerian regulatory frameworks, including AML/CFT guidelines and municipal money-lending codes.

Soft Skills

• Detail Orientation: Elite documentation hygiene with a natural ability to catch inconsistencies in financial records.

• Executive Presence: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the professional maturity required to interface directly with the CEO and board members.
