We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Description:

  • The Head of Operations will be responsible for overseeing and streamlining all operational aspects of the bank's digital services, with a strong focus on digital payments, transaction processing, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • This role requires a deep understanding of digital payment platforms, POS systems, switching, settlement processes, and APIs in the banking and fintech ecosystem.
  • The ideal candidate must demonstrate a proactive approach to managing people, platforms, processes, and partnerships to deliver seamless and secure customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily banking operations and core activities such as Commercial Payments, Treasury Settlements, Loans Administration, Transfer operations, Investigations, Complaint handling/Dispute Resolution, Internet and Mobile Banking Support areas, and will co-ordinate all relevant bank operations in an efficient and effective manner so that customer service is optimized to meet business strategy and plans whilst ensuring efficiency and compliance with Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) regulations.
  • Manage integrations and relationships with digital payment gateways, switches, card schemes, and acquiring banks.
  • Handle API transaction monitoring, error resolution, and ensure proper escalation of all recurring system failures
  • Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with the bank’s objectives.
  • Design and monitor service level agreements (SLAs) and turnaround times (TATs) to ensure timely loan processing, account opening, disbursements, and cash transactions.
  • Lead and manage all Central Operations activities, including client service, investigations, digital payments, treasury operations, and loans administration.
  • Work with the MD to ensure strategic objectives agreed at the senior level are translated into tactical business plans with metrics for key measurements in place to monitor progress
  • Drive digitization and automation initiatives to enhance service delivery and reduce operational bottlenecks.
  • Review and enhance department delivery processes with a view to ensuring that a smooth workflow within the department, reduced turnaround times and costs, and higher levels of efficiency are achieved.

  • Work closely with IT to optimize core banking systems and digital platforms.
  • Identify process gaps and implement continuous process improvement mechanisms.
  • Lead and co-ordinate a portfolio of strategic sales and partnerships, related to growth initiatives to accelerate go-to market and drive commercial outcomes, overseeing team members.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor the operations team within the banks, promoting a culture of excellence, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Design and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance tracking systems for operational staff.
  • Develop and manage the operations budget, ensuring cost efficiency and resource optimization.
  • Provide timely and accurate reports to executive management and regulators on operational performance, challenges, and improvements.
  • Authorize account openings and closures, cash transactions, and withdrawals.
  • Ensure daily balancing of accounts and online posting of transactions.
  • Authorize expenses as per the bank's approval levels.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Economics, Banking & Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or additional qualifications in business-related areas is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in banking or financial services, with at least 5 years in a senior operations role, preferably in a fintech, microfinance or commercial banking environment.
  • Proven experience managing digital payment systems, integrations, and real-time settlement platforms.
  • Familiarity with APIs, payment gateways, and reconciliation processes.
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity practices and transaction risk controls.
  • MBA or relevant professional certification (e.g., ACIB, CIBN, ACCA, PMP, Six Sigma, Lean, Microfinance Certification Programme) is an added advantage.

Salary

N800,000 - N1,000,000 monthly.
