Job Description:

We are seeking a high-level Lead Geophysical Technical Auditor to serve as the final technical authority before the commencement of seismic field operations. This is a specialized, standalone role designed for a subject matter expert who ensures that every piece of hardware—from energy sources to positioning sensors—is operating at peak manufacturer specifications.

You will not be part of a standard QC team; you are an independent auditor tasked with verifying that the contractor’s equipment and crew readiness align with both the Company’s rigorous requirements and international industry standards. If you possess deep technical fluency in geophysical instrumentation and the integrity to halt operations if standards are not met, this role offers a platform for high-impact technical leadership.

Requirements:

1. Technical Integrity & Equipment Auditing

  • System Verification: Conduct comprehensive audits of the contractor’s seismic energy sources, sensors, and recording systems to ensure 100% compliance with manufacturer specifications and contract requirements.

  • Instrumentation Benchmarking: Verify the calibration and functional readiness of positioning and navigation systems to guarantee data spatial accuracy.

  • Testing Coordination: Lead and coordinate the testing of vendor and subcontractor field equipment, documenting all performance benchmarks prior to deployment.

2. Operational Readiness & Risk Assessment

  • Readiness Reporting: Provide definitive reports on the perceived limitations and the overall readiness of the vendor’s crew and equipment to begin field operations.

  • Technical Advisory: Act as the primary technical advisor on logistics and instrumentation aspects of data acquisition, identifying potential failure points in the recording chain.

  • Gap Analysis: Identify and report discrepancies between proposed equipment lists and actual field assets.

3. SSH&E Stewardship & Communication

  • Safety Alignment: Ensure all equipment and operational procedures adhere to strict SSH&E (Security, Safety, Health, and Environmental) project requirements.

  • Strategic Communication: Serve as the technical bridge to Company office personnel, escalating operational or safety concerns to ensure the project maintains Company standards.

  • Accountability: Foster a culture of trust and accountability with vendors while maintaining the independence required for an objective audit.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

  • Auditing Mastery: Proven experience in technical auditing for geophysical equipment. Previous experience with Company standards is highly preferred.

  • Geophysical Expertise: Advanced knowledge of the specific geophysical systems and equipment proposed for the survey (Sources, Sensors, Streamers/Cables, and Positioning).

  • Language & Soft Skills: Fluent in written and spoken English with excellent interpersonal skills and a high level of integrity.

Technical & Physical Requirements

  • SSH&E Literacy: Well-versed in field-specific safety practices and environmental processes for remote or offshore operations.

  • Physical Condition: Must be in excellent physical condition and capable of meeting all health requirements for field deployments (including offshore or country-specific certifications).

  • Software Proficiency: Expert in modern communication technologies and the Microsoft Office Suite for reporting and telecommunications.

  • Certification: All professional and safety certifications must be current for the duration of the project.
