Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and technically proficient Mud Engineer to join our drilling operations team. You will serve as the technical authority for our drilling fluid systems, ensuring that every well is drilled safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively. This role demands a balance of on-site rigor and strategic fluid planning. You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of drilling fluids from initial design and laboratory testing to active monitoring and optimization—to maintain wellbore stability and operational flow.
Requirements:
Fluid Program Design: Develop and implement customized drilling fluid programs that align with specific well objectives and complex geological requirements.
Operational Monitoring: Continuously monitor, test, and adjust fluid properties on-site. Perform routine lab analyses to ensure fluids meet performance targets.
Reporting & Inventory: Maintain precise daily mud reports and technical logs. Manage inventory levels of mud products to ensure zero downtime.
Troubleshooting: Act as the first line of defense for drilling fluid-related issues. Rapidly diagnose problems and provide actionable, corrective recommendations.
Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate closely with Drilling Supervisors, rig crews, and technical teams to ensure fluid performance is integrated into overall drilling strategy.
Safety & Compliance: Enforce rigorous adherence to HSE protocols, company policies, and industry standards (e.g., IWCF/IADC) at all times.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
Experience: 6–10 years of proven field experience as a Mud Engineer in the oil and gas sector.
Technical Mastery:
Extensive knowledge of water-based, oil-based, and synthetic-based fluid systems.
Deep understanding of wellbore stability, fluid hydraulics, and drilling operations.
Proven proficiency in fluid testing, reporting, and inventory management.
Preferred: * Industry certifications such as IWCF, IADC, or HSE.
Experience with major oilfield service companies or drilling contractors.
Proficiency in industry-standard drilling software and mud reporting systems.
