Job Description:
We are seeking a high-caliber Cinematographer to serve as the visual architect of our productions. In this role, you are the bridge between the written word and the moving image. Your mission is to translate scripts into a distinct visual language, utilizing your technical mastery of light and glass to evoke the intended emotion of every project.
Working closely with the Production Lead, you will shape the visual DNA of our work—from commercial sets to cinematic narratives. You aren't just an operator; you are a leader who can manage technical teams and navigate the pressures of both studio and location shoots without compromising on visual excellence. If you have an artistic eye backed by a minimum of 2 years of technical experience, we want you to help us define our look.
Requirements:
1. Visual Direction & Script Interpretation
Aesthetic Strategy: Break down scripts to develop comprehensive visual styles, including color palettes, framing motifs, and lighting moods.
Technical Planning: Collaborate with the Production Lead to select the appropriate camera systems, lenses, and filtration to achieve the desired look.
Composition Mastery: Apply deep knowledge of the "Rule of Thirds," depth of field, and lens compression to create compelling, high-standard frames.
2. Technical Execution & Lighting Design
Lighting Architecture: Design and set up complex lighting schemes for both studio environments and unpredictable location shoots, balancing natural and artificial light.
Dynamic Movement: Execute creative and complex camera movements (Gimbal, Dolly, Handheld) that add narrative value to the scene.
Post-Production Alignment: Work closely with the editing and color-grading teams to ensure the captured "look" is consistent and grade-ready.
3. Leadership & On-Set Governance
Team Supervision: Direct and supervise the Gaffer, Grips, and Camera Assistants to ensure efficient set-ups and breakdowns.
Equipment Stewardship: Oversee the maintenance and safe operation of all high-value camera and lighting equipment, ensuring 100% reliability on shoot days.
Safety Compliance: Enforce rigorous on-set safety standards for rigging and electrical work.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of active experience as a Cinematographer or Director of Photography.
Technical Mastery: Strong expertise in modern cinema camera systems (e.g., ARRI, RED, Sony Cinema Line, or Blackmagic) and professional DMX/LED lighting.
Versatility: Proven track record in both controlled studio environments and high-pressure location shoots.
Core Competencies
Artistic Vision: A strong portfolio demonstrating a unique "eye" and a sophisticated understanding of visual storytelling.
Team Leadership: Ability to command a crew while maintaining a collaborative, creative environment.
Problem-Solving: The ability to troubleshoot technical failures and environmental lighting challenges in real-time.
