Job Description:

We are seeking a persistent, strategic, and result-oriented Loan Recovery Officer to safeguard our organization’s financial health. In this role, you will be the frontline defense against credit risk, responsible for rehabilitating delinquent accounts and minimizing Non-Performing Loans (NPLs). This is a role for a high-impact negotiator who can navigate difficult conversations, conduct field visits, and implement creative repayment structures. If you have the "hunter" mindset for recovery and the analytical skill to report on portfolio performance, you are the candidate we need.

Requirements:

1. Delinquency Management & Field Recovery

• Active Portfolio Surveillance: Monitor and follow up on overdue and delinquent loan accounts from the first day of default.

• Field Diplomacy: Conduct physical visits to defaulting customers at their homes or business locations to assess repayment capacity and secure commitments.

• Negotiation Mastery: Re-negotiate repayment terms and issue updated schedules that balance the customer’s reality with the organization’s recovery targets.

2. Compliance & Enforcement

• Formal Notice Issuance: Prepare and serve official recovery notices, ensuring all communication is documented for potential legal proceedings.

• Collateral & Legal Referral: Identify "bad faith" debtors and recommend the commencement of legal action or the repossession of collateral when standard recovery efforts fail.

• Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all recovery activities are conducted within the ethical guidelines of the consumer protection and debt collection laws.

3. Analytics & Portfolio Reporting

• Reporting Excellence: Prepare weekly and monthly recovery reports, providing management with clear insights into "Amount Recovered" vs. "Target Portfolio."

• NPL Reduction Strategy: Analyze default trends and provide feedback to the Credit/Underwriting team to help improve future loan appraisal processes.

• Documentation Management: Maintain comprehensive and updated files on all defaulting accounts, including notes on every customer engagement.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

• Experience: Proven track record in debt recovery, credit control, or loan monitoring within the banking, microfinance, or fintech sectors.

• Negotiation Skills: Ability to remain firm yet professional under pressure, with strong persuasive and conflict-resolution abilities.

• Analytical Ability: Proficiency in using MS Excel for tracking repayment schedules and generating recovery metrics.

• Mobility: Willingness to perform frequent field visits and engage with customers in diverse locations.
