Job Description:

We are seeking a commercially-minded Hospitality Accountant to anchor the financial operations of our growing business. In the hospitality sector, profitability is won or lost on the margins of food costs, labor efficiency, and occupancy. In this role, you will be the financial architect of our success—moving beyond basic bookkeeping to provide deep analysis of revenue leakage, inventory wastage, and operational performance. If you are a detail-oriented professional with experience navigating the complexities of POS systems and hotel accounting software, this is your platform to drive bottom-line results.

Requirements:

1. Revenue Integrity & Cost Control

  • Daily Revenue Audit: Verify daily sales reports and cash collections across all outlets (Rooms, F&B, Events), ensuring 100% reconciliation with Point of Sale (POS) data.

  • F&B Cost Analytics: Monitor food and beverage costs, inventory turnover, and wastage patterns to identify and correct margin slippage.

  • Variance Analysis: Conduct regular audits of actual vs. budgeted performance, providing management with actionable insights on cost overruns.

2. Financial Operations & Treasury

  • Ledger Governance: Maintain an airtight general ledger, managing daily transactions, payroll, and supplier payments with high precision.

  • Working Capital Management: Optimize accounts payable and receivable cycles to ensure healthy cash flow and strong supplier relationships.

  • Reconciliation: Perform daily bank and merchant settlement reconciliations to ensure financial data integrity.

3. Compliance, Tax & Reporting

  • Statutory Excellence: Manage all tax obligations, including VAT, PAYE, WHT, and local hospitality levies, ensuring timely filing and zero penalties.

  • Management Accounts: Prepare monthly P&L statements, cash flow reports, and balance sheets that reflect the true health of our hotel/restaurant operations.

  • Audit Leadership: Serve as the primary liaison for internal and external auditors, maintaining a "permanent audit-ready" filing system.

Qualifications and Skills:

Academic & Professional Foundation

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Experience: 2–5 years of progressive experience, ideally within a hotel, restaurant, or catering environment.

  • Certification: ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent professional certification is a significant advantage.

Technical Skills

  • Software Mastery: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Tally) and familiarity with Hospitality POS/Property Management Systems (PMS).

  • Excel Proficiency: Advanced ability to build financial models and cost-tracking templates.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of Nigerian tax laws and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
