We are seeking a Budget Monitoring Officer to serve as the strategic guardian of our company’s financial resources. In this role, you won't just track spending; you will analyze the "why" behind every variance, ensure 100% policy compliance, and drive process automation to safeguard our profitability. Requirements:

1. Budgetary Governance & Expenditure Oversight

• Utilization Tracking: Monitor real-time budget utilization across all departments, ensuring every kobo spent aligns with established corporate guidelines.

• Variance Intelligence: Prepare detailed variance reports (Actual vs. Budget), identifying deviations early and providing actionable recommendations to management.

• Profitability Reporting: Develop comprehensive Branch Profitability Reports to provide a granular view of financial performance across the organization’s footprint.

2. Requisition & Approval Workflow

• Assurance & Validation: Properly assess supporting documents for all purchase requisitions, ensuring they are aligned with appropriate budget codes and quote approvals.

• Compliance Management: Verify that all expenditures have secured the necessary hierarchical approvals before funds are disbursed.

• Workflow Efficiency: Manage the treatment of requisitions in a timely manner, ensuring payment schedules are forwarded to the disbursement unit without bottlenecking operations.

3. Process Innovation & Collaboration

• Systems Optimization: Identify and recommend improvements for expense and budget monitoring software to enhance reporting accuracy and automation.

• Advisory Support: Act as the internal consultant for department heads on overhead and budget-related matters, fostering a culture of financial accountability.

• Continuous Improvement: Regularly evaluate and update budgeting processes to reflect industry best practices and organizational evolution.

Qualifications and Skills:

Academic & Professional Foundation

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Experience: 2–3 years of relevant experience in a budget monitoring or financial control role.

• Certification: Professional qualification (ICAN or ACCA) is a significant advantage.

• Analytical Skills: Proven experience in preparing overhead analysis and tracking complex expenditure portfolios.

Technical Competencies

• Excel Mastery: Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, Financial Modeling) and PowerPoint for executive reporting.

• Software Fluency: Experience with budget monitoring and ERP software.

• Attention to Detail: An uncompromising commitment to accuracy under pressure.
