Job Description:

  • The accountant will be responsible for managing the company’s financial records, payments, reporting, and compliance activities.
  • The role involves preparing accurate financial reports, supporting budgeting and forecasting, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing financial insights to support management decision-making.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage supplier and staff payments in line with approved company procedures.
  • Prepare financial reports for management and shareholders, providing insights and interpreting financial data.
  • Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses and provide financial advice.
  • Support month-end and year-end stock counts and valuation processes.
  • Assist with statutory and regulatory filings, including taxes and other related submissions.
  • Prepare and manage weekly, monthly, and annual operating budgets and cash flow forecasts.
  • Prepare monthly internal financial statements and management accounts.
  • Manage the company’s relationships with banks and other external financial stakeholders, including credit and facility providers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned from time to time.

Requirements:

  • Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and financial regulations is an added advantage.
  • ICAN certification is an added advantage.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in an accounting or finance role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
