Job Description:

Ikeja Electric is seeking a high-caliber Network Operations Manager to serve as the technical lead for all operations and maintenance activities within the business unit. In a high-demand power distribution environment, your mission is to ensure 100% network uptime, prevent equipment failure, and lead the charge in reducing technical and commercial losses.

Reporting directly to the Business Manager, you will oversee the 11kV and 415kV networks, ensuring that every substation and line segment operates at peak efficiency. This is a senior-level role for a strategic engineer with 8–10 years of experience who can manage a large field team while navigating the complex regulatory landscape of the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).

Requirements:

1. Grid Operations & Asset Maintenance

  • Technical Oversight: Plan and coordinate the preventive and corrective maintenance of the 11kV and 415kV distribution networks to minimize downtime.

  • Network Integrity: Manage substation planning and load management to prevent equipment overloads and ensure system stability.

  • Commissioning & Mapping: Oversee the testing and commissioning of new projects and ensure accurate network location mapping for rapid fault isolation.

2. Resource & Budgetary Management

  • Strategic Allocation: Collaborate with the Corporate Office to manage materials, budgets, and technical resources, ensuring cost-effective operations.

  • Audit & Compliance: Audit operational records to maintain strict adherence to quality standards and internal methods.

  • Workforce Leadership: Supervise employees and HSE trainees, ensuring that all maintenance goals are met within safety protocols.

3. Loss Reduction & Regulatory Compliance

  • Commercial Drive: Implement and drive innovative loss reduction strategies to improve the business unit's financial performance.

  • Safety & Standards: Ensure 100% compliance with industry safety standards and NERC (Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission) policies.

  • Customer Reliability: Minimize technical outages and enhance service reliability to drive a superior customer experience.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

  • Education: First degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 8–10 years of relevant experience in operations and maintenance within the Power Sector.

  • Technical IQ: Mastery of Network Data Analysis, Substation Planning, and High/Low Tension (HT/LT) operations.

Behavioral Competencies

  • Risk Management: Proactively identify system vulnerabilities and implement preventive stability measures.

  • Change Leadership: Ability to adapt the team to new smart-grid technologies and evolving maintenance strategies.
