Emel Hospital is a purpose-built 44 bed hospital situated on a piece of land specially approved for its purpose by the Federal Housing Authority.
Emel Hospital was established in 1988 by Dr. Olufemi Mobolaji-Lawal, a consultant paediatrician. Dr. Mobolaji-Lawal trained as a doctor at the University College Hospital, Ibadan and as a paediatrician in the United Kingdom. Prior to setting Emel Hospital, he worked for some time as consultant paediatrician at Ikeja General Hospital (now Lagos State University Teaching Hospital), Lagos. He is the board chairman and his wife, Dr. (Mrs) Margaret Mobolaji-Lawal is a non-executive director.
Job Description:
mel Hospital is seeking a strategic and visionary Human Resources (HR) Manager to lead our HR function. In this pivotal role, you will align people operations with the hospital’s mission of clinical excellence. You will oversee the entire employee lifecycle—from the specialized recruitment of clinical staff to strategic workforce planning and organizational development. As a leader, you will supervise the HR team, ensure strict compliance with healthcare regulations and labor laws, and serve as a key advisor to hospital leadership on all talent-related matters.
Requirements:
1. Strategic HR & Workforce Planning
Strategic Alignment: Develop HR strategies that support Emel Hospital’s operational goals, ensuring a balance between clinical staffing needs and fiscal responsibility.
Advisory Role: Serve as a trusted advisor to hospital leadership on workforce restructuring, succession planning, and HR transformation.
Organizational Development: Lead change management initiatives to foster a culture of accountability and continuous clinical improvement.
2. Specialized Talent Acquisition & Retention
Healthcare Recruitment: Oversee the end-to-end recruitment process for clinical (Doctors, Nurses, Technicians) and non-clinical staff.
Retention Excellence: Design and implement career development pathways and employee engagement programs to minimize turnover in high-demand medical roles.
Onboarding: Ensure a seamless integration process that emphasizes hospital protocols, patient safety, and core values.
3. Performance & Compensation Management
KPI Design: Manage performance appraisal systems tailored to healthcare environments, supporting department heads in setting and measuring clinical standards.
Rewards & Benefits: Oversee payroll and benchmark compensation packages to ensure Emel Hospital remains competitive within the Lagos healthcare sector.
Continuous Growth: Drive employee development through targeted training, mentorship, and medical coaching programs.
4. Compliance, Policy & Team Leadership
Policy Governance: Develop and enforce the Employee Handbook, ensuring all procedures comply with Nigerian Labor Laws and healthcare-specific regulations.
Employee Relations: Act as the final point of resolution for grievances, disciplinary actions, and industrial relations issues.
Team Mentorship: Supervise and develop the HR team, including the Senior HR Officer, ensuring high standards of service delivery within the department.
HR Audits: Conduct regular audits of workforce trends and HR metrics to provide leadership with data-driven insights.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education & Experience
Academic Background: Bachelor’s degree in HRM, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Professional Tenure: 5–7 years of progressive HR experience, with a strong preference for candidates from the healthcare or medical services sector.
Certification: Professional HR certification (e.g., CIPM, SHRM, or HRCI) is highly advantageous.
Core Competencies
Regulatory Mastery: Deep knowledge of Nigerian labor laws and healthcare-specific regulatory requirements.
Technical Savvy: Proficient in HRIS/HRMS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
