Job Description:
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Fleet & Logistics Assistant to support the seamless coordination of our transportation assets. This role is perfect for a detail-oriented professional with a technical background (Mechanical Engineering or Logistics) who can balance vehicle maintenance schedules with real-time delivery tracking. You will ensure that our fleet remains compliant, our drivers are optimized, and our logistics costs are minimized. Requirements:
1. Fleet Maintenance & Technical Oversight
Preventative Maintenance: Manage and monitor vehicle maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and ensure the longevity of company assets.
Inspections: Perform periodic physical inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure they meet strict operational and safety standards.
Asset Documentation: Maintain rigorous records of vehicle inspections, repairs, insurance renewals, and licensing requirements.
2. Logistics Coordination & Route Optimization
Resource Allocation: Manage driver schedules and vehicle assignments, ensuring resources are deployed based on real-time demand and efficiency.
Route Efficiency: Analyze fuel consumption and track vehicle performance to recommend route optimizations that reduce costs and delivery times.
Delivery Management: Coordinate the daily movement of goods, acting as the primary point of contact for drivers to resolve logistical challenges or delays on the road.
3. Compliance & Vendor Management
Regulatory Adherence: Ensure the entire fleet complies with local, state, and federal regulations, including LASMOT, FRSC, and other transportation safety requirements.
Vendor Relations: Negotiate with and manage relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PL), repair vendors, and parts contractors to ensure high service quality.
Procurement Support: Collaborate with the procurement team to assist in the technical evaluation and acquisition of new vehicles or logistics equipment.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education & Experience
Academic Background: National Diploma (ND) in Mechanical Engineering, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management.
Proven Tenure: 0 – 2 years of experience in fleet management or logistics coordination.
Location: Candidates must reside in or be in close proximity to Ajao Estate and its environs.
Technical & Soft Skills
Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with Fleet Management Systems (FMS), logistics software, and GPS tracking tools.
Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of transportation safety laws and licensing procedures in Nigeria.
Execution: Exceptional time-management skills and the ability to maintain composure under high-pressure deadlines.
Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to effectively manage driver relations and negotiate with external vendors.
