Job Description:
We are seeking a high-integrity Debt Recovery & Compliance Officer to join our team in Ogudu, Lagos. In the credit industry, the strength of the balance sheet depends on the efficiency of the recovery process and the rigor of its compliance.
Your mission is dual-faceted: you will act as a strategic recovery operative, negotiating repayment terms to minimize Portfolio at Risk (PAR), while simultaneously serving as a compliance guardian. You will ensure that every recovery action adheres to CBN guidelines and NDPR standards. If you have 4–6 years of experience in credit control or risk management and a track record of meeting recovery targets without compromising ethics, we invite you to anchor our credit operations.
Requirements:
1. Strategic Debt Recovery & Portfolio Remediation
Active Collection: Execute professional follow-ups on overdue accounts via calls, emails, and strategic field visits to secure commitment to pay.
Negotiation & Restructuring: Architect repayment plans and restructuring arrangements for delinquent customers, balancing the customer's capacity to pay with the organization's financial goals.
Escalation Management: Prepare formal demand notices and liaise with legal teams on cases requiring litigation or enforcement action.
PAR Management: Develop and implement recovery strategies specifically designed to reduce the Portfolio at Risk (PAR) and improve the overall quality of the loan book.
2. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Governance
Procedural Audits: Conduct regular compliance checks on credit documentation and loan files to ensure adherence to internal risk management procedures.
Regulatory Alignment: Stay at the forefront of CBN guidelines, NDPR (Data Protection), and other Nigerian financial regulations to ensure all collection activities are legally sound.
Reporting & Analysis: Prepare periodic reports for management that highlight recovery progress, compliance gaps, and recommended corrective actions.
Ethical Standards: Ensure that all recovery activities are conducted with a high level of integrity, protecting the organization’s reputation from predatory collection practices.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or Law.
Experience: 4–6 years of proven experience in debt recovery, credit control, or risk management.
Legal IQ: Strong knowledge of Nigerian financial regulations; familiarity with CBN guidelines is a significant advantage.
Tech Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data tracking and reporting) and Word.
