About Company:

Moment for Women Alliance is a registered women- and girls’-rights organization dedicated to advancing the human rights of young women and girls in Nigeria. Through advocacy, education, creative expression, and our publication The Moment for Women Magazine, we empower communities to end gender-based violence, promote inclusive governance, and expand access to sexual and reproductive health.

Job Description:

We are seeking a high-caliber Finance Officer to lead the financial operations of our mission-driven organization in Sango Ota. In the NGO sector, financial management is more than just "balancing books"—it is about ensuring that every Naira is transparently accounted for and strategically deployed to empower women.

Your mission is to serve as the custodian of our financial integrity. You will be responsible for the full spectrum of fiscal management—from complex grant budgeting and cash flow forecasting to ensuring 100% compliance with donor regulations and external audits. If you have 3–5 years of NGO finance experience and a passion for using data to drive social impact, we invite you to anchor our financial strategy.

Requirements:

1. Budgeting, Forecasting & Strategic Alignment

  • Financial Architecture: Develop and manage annual budgets in collaboration with senior management, ensuring they reflect the organization’s strategic priorities.

  • Performance Monitoring: Track financial performance against budgets, providing detailed variance analysis and proactive recommendations to program managers.

  • Strategic Insights: Conduct trend analysis to identify financial risks and opportunities, ensuring project goals remain financially viable.

2. Treasury, Controls & General Ledger

  • Cash Flow Stewardship: Oversee investment activities and manage daily cash flow to ensure operational continuity.

  • Internal Governance: Implement and maintain robust internal controls and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to prevent fraud and ensure transparency.

  • Full-Cycle Accounting: Oversee accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions using tools like QuickBooks and advanced Excel.

3. Compliance & Audit Readiness

  • Regulatory Rigor: Ensure all activities comply with Nigerian financial regulations, tax laws, and specific NGO donor requirements.

  • Audit Leadership: Coordinate with external auditors and prepare all necessary schedules to ensure a seamless, unqualified audit process.

  • Reporting Excellence: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and donor reports that meet high standards of transparency.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting. CPA, ICAN, or equivalent professional certification is highly preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years in finance/accounting, with mandatory previous experience in an NGO environment.

  • Technical IQ: Mastery of financial management principles, accounting software (QuickBooks), and advanced Excel functions.

Core Competencies

  • Analytical IQ: Exceptional ability to interpret complex financial data and identify underlying trends.

  • Accuracy: A "zero-error" mindset with high attention to detail in reporting and data entry.

  • Communication: Ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial program staff clearly and professionally.

  • Independence: Ability to manage the finance function with minimal supervision while contributing to a collaborative team.
