Job Description:
We are looking for a reliable, tech-savvy, and detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be the backbone of our daily operations, working side-by-side with the Lead Pharmacist to ensure our patients receive accurate medication and exceptional service.
This is a dynamic position that blends clinical support with administrative excellence. You will manage the point-of-sale (POS) system, handle sensitive inventory, and assist in the vital process of medication dispensing. Requirements:
1. Dispensing & Clinical Support
Pharmacist Assistance: Work directly under the supervision of the Pharmacist to prepare and package prescriptions accurately.
Prescription Clerking: Assist in reading and processing prescriptions while ensuring patient confidentiality and data privacy.
Patient Interaction: Provide friendly and professional assistance to patients regarding over-the-counter (OTC) products and general inquiries.
2. Financial & POS Management
Cashier Excellence: Manage the cash register and point-of-sale (POS) system with 100% accuracy in processing payments, insurance claims, and receipts.
Daily Reconciliation: Ensure that daily cash and digital sales match the system records at the end of every shift.
Tech Literacy: Utilize pharmacy management software to look up patient records, check medication availability, and process transactions.
3. Inventory & Logistics Control
Receiving & Verification: Oversee the receipt of new stock, ensuring that quantities received match the invoices and that items are in perfect condition.
Stock Rotation: Organize shelves using the FEFO (First-Expired-First-Out) method to minimize waste and ensure product safety.
Inventory Tracking: Assist in regular stock counts and alert the Pharmacist when essential medications are reaching re-order levels.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Minimum of a Secondary School Leaving Certificate (WAEC/NECO) or an OND in a related field.
Experience: Previous experience in a retail or pharmacy setting is a significant advantage.
Computer Literacy: Must be proficient in basic computer operations. Experience with POS software or Microsoft Office is required.

Integrity: Strong ethical principles, especially when handling cash and sensitive patient information.
Multitasking: Ability to switch between cashier duties and stock management during peak hours.
