About Company:

Global Village Healthcare Initiative for Africa (GHIV Africa) is a Non-governmental, Non-for profit humanitarian/Developmental organization which started in 2014. We deliver assistance to affected populations before, during and after crisis situations. GHIV Africa was founded to mitigate the  health deficit in Africa and to provide all forms of assistance leading to improved quality of life.

Job Description:

We are seeking a high-precision and ethically grounded Finance Assistant to anchor our finance unit in Northwest Nigeria. In the humanitarian sector, success is defined by "Fiscal Transparency", the ability to harmonize complex donor regulations with granular financial documentation to ensure every Naira reaches those in need. This role is designed for a "Compliance Architect" with 1–2 years of experience who can blend "Accounting Rigor" with the "Resilience" required to operate in challenging environments.

Your mission is to ensure "Absolute Audit-Readiness and Financial Integrity." You will be a primary engine of the finance unit: responsible for processing payments, monitoring project budgets, and ensuring 100% adherence to PSEA/GBV and Child Safeguarding policies. If you possess "Strong Analytical Skills," fluency in Hausa and Fulani, and a "Mission-First" mindset, we want you to drive our financial sovereignty.

Requirements:

1. Transaction Architecture & Documentation

  • Payment Governance: Prepare payment vouchers and ensure all supporting documents (invoices, receipts, approvals) are complete and in 100% alignment with organizational policies.

  • Cash Flow Management: Process staff advances, vendor payments, and reimbursements with millimetric accuracy.

  • Treasury Support: Manage petty cash systems and assist in the preparation of high-fidelity bank reconciliation statements.

2. Budget Stewardship & Donor Compliance

  • Variance Intelligence: Support the Finance Manager in tracking project spending against approved budgets, proactively flagging potential overspending or variances.

  • Grant Compliance: Ensure all financial transactions comply with specific donor regulations (e.g., USAID, UN, EU) and organizational financial procedures.

  • Reporting Fidelity: Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports and donor-specific supporting schedules.

3. Audit Sovereignty & Record Keeping

  • Audit Preparation: Organize and prepare financial documentation for internal and external audits, ensuring all records are "Perpetual Audit-Ready."

  • Archival Governance: Maintain both electronic and physical filing systems, ensuring that financial data is securely archived and easily accessible for future reference.

  • Systems Integrity: Ensure all financial data is accurately and timely entered into accounting systems like QuickBooks.

4. Humanitarian Ethics & Safeguarding

  • Safeguarding Advocacy: Strictly comply with and promote GHIV Africa’s PSEA/GBV and Child Safeguarding Policies, maintaining zero tolerance for sexual exploitation and harassment (SEAH).

  • Cultural Diplomacy: Utilize fluency in English, Hausa, and Fulani to engage effectively with stakeholders and ensure transparent communication in the field.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.

  • Experience: 1–2 years of experience in finance/accounting, preferably within an NGO or donor-funded environment.

  • Certification: Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, or ATS) is a significant added advantage.

  • Languages: Fluency in English, Hausa, and Fulani is required for field operations.

Core Competencies

  • Technical Rigor: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks).

  • Resilience: Ability to maintain high performance under challenging conditions in Northwest Nigeria.

  • Integrity: Maintaining the highest ethical standards and confidentiality in financial matters.
