Job Description:

We are seeking a highly disciplined and ICAN-qualified Tax Executive to lead our tax function in Lagos. This is a critical role that demands more than just filing returns; it requires a strategic mind capable of managing the complexities of Transfer Pricing, Deferred Tax Provisioning, and Multi-agency Tax Audits.

As a subject matter expert, you will ensure our organization remains 100% compliant with Nigerian tax laws while identifying legal avenues for tax optimization (VAT, WHT). Your goal is zero fines and maximum accuracy. Requirements:

1. Tax Provisioning & Accurate Computation

  • Technical Provisioning: Lead the end-to-end tax provisioning process, ensuring deferred and current tax liabilities are accurately reflected in the financial statements.

  • Complex Computations: Prepare and review monthly and annual tax computations, ensuring alignment with IFRS and local tax standards.

  • Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify potential tax exposures and implement mitigation strategies to protect the firm’s bottom line.

2. Compliance, Filing & Transfer Pricing

  • Statutory Governance: Manage the timely filing of all statutory returns, ensuring accuracy to prevent any tax fines or penalties.

  • Transfer Pricing Mastery: Oversight of Transfer Pricing documentation and reporting, ensuring inter-company transactions are conducted at arm's length and fully documented.

  • Optimization: Make strategic VAT and WHT decisions to achieve legal savings and improve cash flow efficiency.

3. Audit Coordination & Stakeholder Relations

  • Audit Leadership: Act as the primary liaison during FIRS/LIRS tax audits, coordinating data requests and defending tax positions to ensure smooth closures.

  • Client Interaction: Build and maintain high-value relationships with tax clients and regulatory bodies, positioning the firm as a transparent and compliant entity.

  • ERP Leadership: Utilize Microsoft Dynamics to automate tax reporting and improve the speed of data retrieval for compliance purposes.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

  • Education: BSc / HND in Accounting or a related discipline.

  • Certification: ICAN Qualification is MANDATORY.

  • Experience: 3–5 years of core tax experience, preferably in a structured corporate environment or top-tier accounting firm.

  • Software: High versatility in Microsoft Dynamics (ERP) and Microsoft Office Suite.
