Job Description:

HRLeverage is seeking a high-precision Payroll Technical Specialist to anchor the technical and compliance framework of our payroll operations. This is not a traditional clerical role; we are looking for a systems-oriented professional who can configure complex payroll engines, manage HRIS integrations, and ensure absolute statutory compliance.

You will be the custodian of the payroll lifecycle, responsible for everything from system troubleshooting to sophisticated data reconciliation. If you possess a deep understanding of ERP workflows, advanced Excel modeling, and the regulatory landscape of payroll, your expertise will be vital in driving our operational excellence and maintaining employee trust.

Requirements:

1. System Configuration & Technical Governance

  • Infrastructure Management: Administer and configure payroll systems (SAP, Workday, Sage, etc.) to ensure maximum efficiency and error-free processing.

  • Integration Support: Manage the seamless flow of data between HRIS and ERP platforms, ensuring that employee records and financial ledgers are perfectly synchronized.

  • Troubleshooting & Upgrades: Lead system enhancements, troubleshoot technical glitches, and oversee upgrades to keep the payroll environment secure and modern.

2. Compliance & Financial Accuracy

  • Statutory Stewardship: Ensure 100% compliance with all regulatory obligations, including PAYE tax, pension contributions, and other statutory deductions.

  • Audit Readiness: Act as the primary technical contact for internal and external audits, providing accurate documentation and reconciliation schedules.

  • Account Reconciliation: Perform rigorous monthly reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies between payroll outputs and bank records promptly.

3. Analytics & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Data-Driven Reporting: Generate complex payroll analytics for Management and Finance to support workforce cost planning and budget forecasting.

  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with IT, HR, and Finance teams to optimize payroll workflows and resolve multi-departmental technical challenges.

  • Integrity & Confidentiality: Maintain an uncompromising standard of data privacy, ensuring that sensitive compensation data is accessible only to authorized personnel.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Profile

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or Business Administration.

  • Experience: 3–5 years of payroll experience with a heavy emphasis on technical system exposure.

  • Technical Stack: Hands-on experience with enterprise platforms such as SAP, Workday, Oracle, ADP, or Sage.

  • Excel Mastery: Advanced proficiency in XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and Macro-based modeling.

Core Competencies

  • Analytical Rigor: Exceptional ability to interpret complex data sets and identify patterns or errors.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of Nigerian (or relevant regional) labor laws and tax regulations.

  • Resilience: Ability to maintain absolute accuracy while meeting strict, high-pressure monthly deadlines.
