Job Description:
We are seeking a meticulous and analytically-driven Accountant to join our team in Lagos. This is not a traditional bookkeeping role; it is a high-tempo position designed for a professional who can master the financial complexities of the ride-hailing and logistics industry.
You will be responsible for the end-to-end financial integrity of our fleet operations, ensuring that thousands of daily transactions—from rider payments to driver commissions—are reconciled with surgical precision. If you are an Excel power-user with a background in digital payment systems and a keen eye for cost analysis, you will play a critical role in steering our company's growth and operational transparency.
Requirements:
1. High-Volume Transaction & Revenue Governance
Dynamic Reconciliation: Reconcile daily transactions between ride-hailing platforms, driver payment systems, and bank records to ensure zero leakages.
Fleet Ledger Management: Maintain and update the general ledger, specifically tracking accounts related to logistics, fuel, maintenance, and fleet payroll.
Real-Time Tracking: Record and monitor all operational inflows and outflows, including driver payouts, platform commissions, and third-party logistics costs.
2. Financial Reporting & Strategic Analysis
Statement Preparation: Own the month-end close process, preparing comprehensive P&L, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow statements.
Operational Insights: Monitor revenue trends and operational costs, generating data-driven reports that help the operations team optimize driver performance and fleet efficiency.
Budgetary Control: Assist leadership in budgeting and forecasting, using cost analysis to identify opportunities for expense reduction.
3. Compliance & Statutory Management
Tax Integrity: Handle precise calculations and timely filings for VAT, PAYE, and Company Income Tax (CIT) to ensure 100% statutory compliance.
Audit Leadership: Liaise with external auditors and tax consultants, ensuring all financial records are audit-ready and transparent.
Software Stewardship: Utilize QuickBooks, Zoho Books, or ERP systems alongside internal dashboards to maintain a "source of truth" for the organization.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: BA/BSc/HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: 3–6 years of progressive experience in accounting (Experience in Ride-hailing, Transport, or Fintech is a significant advantage).
Technical Mastery: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, Financial Modeling) and accounting software like QuickBooks or Zoho Books.
Core Competencies
Analytical Rigor: Ability to spot trends and anomalies in large datasets.
Organizational Skills: Exceptional attention to detail in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of Nigerian tax laws and IFRS standards.
