About Company:
At Apex Pharmalabs, we are committed to delivering reliable healthcare solutions grounded in quality, convenience, and care. From prescriptions to laboratory diagnostics, we provide fast and dependable services tailored to each patient’s needs.
Job Description:
We are seeking a high-performing Procurement Lead to direct the sourcing, purchasing, and nationwide distribution of pharmaceutical products and medical supplies. In this role, you will be the strategic architect of our supply chain, ensuring that every outlet in our chain is stocked with authentic, cost-effective medications. You will balance aggressive negotiation with strict adherence to PCN and NAFDAC regulations, ensuring that our procurement processes are transparent, efficient, and risk-averse. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the Nigerian pharmaceutical landscape and a proven track record in multi-outlet inventory optimization.
Requirements:
1. Strategic Sourcing & Pharma-Vendor Management
Negotiation Excellence: Develop and execute sourcing strategies that leverage our scale to secure favorable pricing, credit terms, and high-quality inventory.
Supplier Governance: Identify and onboard reputable pharmaceutical manufacturers and distributors, conducting regular performance evaluations to ensure reliability and product authenticity.
Contract Management: Oversee the lifecycle of supplier contracts, ensuring all terms are met and identifying opportunities for long-term strategic partnerships.
2. Multi-Outlet Distribution & Inventory Intelligence
Stock Optimization: Utilize demand forecasting models to maintain optimal inventory levels, eliminating both stock-outs of life-saving medicines and the waste of overstocking.
Logistics Coordination: Supervise the distribution of products across all nationwide branches, approving inter-branch transfers and collaborating with logistics partners for timely delivery.
Cold Chain Stewardship: Ensure that specialized products (e.g., vaccines, insulin) are handled and transported according to strict temperature-controlled standards.
3. Regulatory Compliance & Financial Integrity
Quality Assurance: Ensure 100% compliance with NAFDAC and Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) regulations to mitigate legal and clinical risks.
Financial Oversight: Partner with the Finance Officer to manage procurement budgets, identify cost-saving initiatives, and provide detailed monthly spend analysis to management.
Internal Controls: Implement rigorous auditing and documentation procedures to prevent fraud, waste, and procurement inefficiencies.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Background
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm), Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration.
Tenure: 3–5 years of experience in procurement, specifically within retail pharmacy, FMCG, or the healthcare sector.
Domain Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of the Nigerian pharmaceutical regulatory environment and licensing requirements.
Technical & Leadership Skills
Software Mastery: Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Odoo, SAP) or specialized pharmacy management software.
Analytical Prowess: Ability to interpret sales data to drive smarter purchasing decisions.
Leadership: Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to lead a cross-functional team and manage external stakeholders.
