Job Description:

We are seeking a high-energy, "boots-on-the-ground" Operations & Procurement Manager to serve as the lifeline of our paper mill. This is not a desk job. You will be the bridge between the informal waste paper markets and our industrial production line. Your primary mission is to navigate Nigeria’s competitive and opaque waste paper landscape—building direct relationships with aggregators, negotiating at supplier yards, and ensuring our mill never runs out of raw materials. Beyond sourcing, you will oversee factory site operations, fleet logistics, and spares procurement to ensure maximum uptime and operational order.

Requirements:

1. Aggressive Field-Based Sourcing

• Market Navigation: Spend significant time in the field, identifying and securing waste paper from collectors, bulk aggregators, and informal markets.

• Strategic Negotiation: Secure high-quality raw materials at realistic target prices, even in volatile market conditions.

• Supplier Ecosystem: Build and manage a reliable, loyal network of aggregators to ensure a consistent inflow of materials.

• Price Intelligence: Track real-time market movements and maintain internal benchmarks to stay ahead of competitors.

2. Factory Operations & Asset Management

• Technical Procurement: Manage the procurement of critical factory spares to eliminate emergency purchases and minimize production downtime.

• Site Stewardship: Oversee the maintenance of factory premises, utilities, and general site conditions to ensure an orderly work environment.

• Fleet & Logistics: Manage company vehicles and basic fleet operations, ensuring transporters and internal vehicles are optimized for delivery.

3. Compliance & Relationship Management

• Regulatory Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for waste vendors, transporters, and relevant government regulatory bodies.

• Record Integrity: Maintain meticulous procurement records, supplier pricing logs, and cost-tracking data for management review.

• Problem Solving: Take full ownership of site challenges, from utility failures to logistics bottlenecks.

Qualifications and Skills:

Experience & Background

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in any relevant field.

• Field Proven: Strong experience in field-based procurement, specifically within manufacturing, recycling, or heavy industrial sectors.

• Market Savvy: A proven ability to negotiate and thrive in the informal and highly competitive Nigerian supply markets.
