Job Description:
Tdh is seeking a high-velocity and strategically elite Legal Consultant to anchor our operational integrity in Borno. In the complex humanitarian landscape of Northeast Nigeria, success is defined by "Legal Sovereignty", the ability to harmonize multi-sectoral operations (Health, WASH, Protection) with the clinical precision required for contract law, labor regulations, and Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) compliance. This role is designed for a "Legal Architect" with an MBA/MSc/MA and 5 years of experience who can blend "Advisory Grit" (handling demand letters and terminations) with the "Regulatory Agility" required to navigate NIS, NAFDAC, and SCUML frameworks.
Requirements:
1. Advisory Orchestration & Due Diligence Governance
Statutory Sovereignty: Provide high-fidelity legal advice on Nigerian laws and international standards, acting as the primary "Source of Regulatory Alignment."
Contract Architecture: Advise on contract law and review non-contentious legal documents (MOUs, Vendor Contracts, Employment Agreements) with millimetric focus.
Specialized Stewardship: Provide advisory on International Humanitarian Law (IHL), visa/immigration (NIS), and NAFDAC regulations, ensuring the "Source of Operational Continuity."
2. Compliance Resilience & Operational Logic
Corporate Sovereignty: Manage CAC filings, corporate governance, and annual statutory reporting, acting as the primary "Source of Institutional Compliance."
Medical Liability Architecture: Provide the "Analytical Foundation" for risk exposure associated with health-related activities and professional responsibility.
Fiscal Stewardship: Advise on transactions and tax law as they affect INGO operations, ensuring "Zero-Lapse" in the fulfillment of financial legal obligations.
3. Risk Mitigation & Dispute Power (Non-Contentious)
Dispute Sovereignty: Provide written legal opinions on potential disputes and pre-litigation matters, acting as the "Source of Risk Mitigation" (excluding representation).
Documentation Architecture: Draft high-fidelity demand letters and termination notices, utilizing 5 years of legal practice to optimize the "Source of Employer Protection."
Liaison Logic: Advise on cooperation with Federal and State Ministries (MDAs), maintaining the "Source of Diplomatic Transparency."
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: MBA / MSc / MA in Law or a related advanced social science field.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of robust experience providing legal services, specifically to INGOs, NGOs, or UN agencies.
Credentials: Valid registration with the CAC, NBA enrollment, and a valid Tax Clearance Certificate/TIN.
Core Competencies
Technical Grit: In-depth knowledge of Nigerian Labour Law, Immigration (CERPAC), and Land Matters.
Operational Sovereignty: Demonstrated ability to provide compliance support for SCUML and various Federal/State MDAs.
Analytical Power: Strong ability to provide non-contentious dispute resolution strategies and medical liability risk assessments.
