Job Description:
- A reputable law practice led by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) is seeking a Legal Associate/Executive Assistant to provide high-level legal and administrative support.
- This role is ideal for a disciplined and dependable legal professional with strong skills in legal research, drafting, and organization.
- The candidate will manage complex litigation documentation while supporting the SAN’s daily professional and administrative responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed legal research on ongoing and prospective cases, including precedents, statutes, and case law.
- Prepare comprehensive legal opinions, memoranda, and briefs for court submissions and client advisories.
- Summarize judgments and maintain an updated library of relevant legal materials.
- Draft pleadings, affidavits, motions, and other court documents.
- Prepare professional correspondence, background papers, and client communications.
- Review and proofread all documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with procedural rules.
- Assist in compiling exhibits, authorities, and supporting materials for court and arbitration matters.
- Organize and maintain case files, ensuring proper documentation and easy retrieval.
- Track filing deadlines, hearing dates, and court appearances.
- Liaise with court officials, clerks, and external counsel.
- Provide regular updates to the SAN on case progress and timelines.
- Manage the SAN’s schedule, appointments, and travel logistics.
- Coordinate communication, correspondence, and document flow with confidentiality and professionalism.
- Prepare briefs and summaries for meetings, client sessions, and court proceedings.
- Support administrative operations and follow up on assigned tasks and deadlines.
- Monitor new legal trends, judicial developments, and regulatory reforms.
- Provide analytical insights to support case strategies and argument development.
- Assist in preparing lectures, papers, and presentations by the SAN.
- Maintain discretion and integrity in handling sensitive or privileged information.
- Uphold high professional ethics and represent the SAN’s office with respect and diligence.
- Serve as a reliable liaison between the SAN, associates, clients, and other stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Excellent drafting, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Previous administrative or executive support experience is desirable.
- Dependable, discreet, and detail-oriented.
Qualifications and Skills:
- 5–7 years post-call experience with a strong litigation and research background.
- Prior experience in a SAN’s chambers is highly preferred.
- LL.B and B.L. (mandatory).
- A second degree in English, Administration, or Management is an advantage.
