Job Description:
We are seeking a sharp, meticulous Junior Terminal Accountant to manage the financial heartbeat of our terminal facility in Abuja. This is not a standard "back-office" role; you will be the financial anchor for a high-traffic operational hub, ensuring that every cargo movement, storage hour, and fuel transaction is accurately billed, recorded, and reconciled.
Your mission is to maintain a "Zero-Leakage" revenue environment. You will bridge the gap between physical terminal operations and financial reporting—monitoring everything from petty cash and inventory to complex billing for storage and handling. If you are a high-integrity professional with a passion for operational finance, this is your opportunity to build a career in a specialized industrial sector.
Requirements:
1. Revenue Assurance & Billing Integrity
Transaction Verification: Validate billing accuracy for terminal-specific services (storage, handling, docking, or cargo) by cross-referencing operational logs with financial invoices.
Receivables Management: Monitor outstanding invoices and drive timely collections to ensure healthy terminal cash flow.
Service Reconciliation: Coordinate daily with the operations team to ensure that every service rendered on the field is captured in the billing system.
2. Financial Stewardship & Cost Control
General Ledger Management: Maintain the general ledger with high precision, ensuring daily posting of transactions and accurate account reconciliations (bank, cash, and inventory).
Expense Governance: Track operational expenses against the budget, reviewing purchase requests to ensure they align with the terminal’s financial limits.
Cash Monitoring: Oversee petty cash disbursements and daily cash collections, ensuring every kobo is accounted for and documented.
3. Compliance & Internal Controls
Audit Readiness: Support internal and external audits by maintaining a meticulous digital and physical "paper trail" for all regulatory and tax purposes.
Risk Mitigation: Implement and maintain internal financial controls to prevent errors, fraud, or data discrepancies.
Performance Reporting: Prepare daily and monthly reports that provide management with a clear snapshot of the terminal’s financial health and cost-saving opportunities.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: Early-career experience in accounting or finance (1–3 years); experience in logistics, oil & gas, or transportation terminals is a significant advantage.
Location: Must be a resident of Abuja (FCT) or be able to relocate.
Core Competencies
Analytical Precision: Ability to reconcile complex inventory and revenue data across different departments.
Integrity: High ethical standards for managing cash and financial documentation.
Tech Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (Sage, QuickBooks, or ERP systems).
Adaptability: Comfort working in a fast-paced environment where finance meets physical operations.
