About Company:
Sterling Oil Exploration and Energy Production Company (SEEPCO) is an Oil Exploration & Energy Production Company Limited. We are continuously striving to innovate, grow and impact communities around us.
Job Description:
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design and execution of electrical systems for our Lagos operations. This role is a critical technical position requiring a deep understanding of power distribution within complex chemical and process plants.
You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of electrical infrastructure—from Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) to EPC execution and final commissioning. The ideal candidate brings 8–10 years of experience, specifically within the chemical industry, and possesses specialized knowledge of Chlor-Alkali electrical requirements and hazardous area classifications. If you are a technical authority in LV/MV/HV systems and switchgear layouts, we invite you to lead our engineering design office.
Requirements:
1. Engineering Design & System Architecture
System Design: Architect and review complex power distribution networks, including LV, MV, and HV systems, ensuring optimal switchgear layouts.
Technical Documentation: Prepare comprehensive electrical datasheets, load lists, and technical specifications that serve as the blueprint for procurement and installation.
Integration & Routing: Coordinate critical cable routing, earthing (grounding) systems, and lighting to ensure a seamless interface with mechanical and instrumentation teams.
2. Technical Procurement & Quality Assurance
FAT & Equipment Oversight: Lead Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and oversee the procurement of high-value electrical equipment (transformers, motors, and protection systems).
Installation Governance: Supervise the installation of electrical systems on-site, ensuring 100% adherence to IEC and IEEE standards, as well as local Nigerian electrical regulations.
Specialized Safety: Apply Hazardous Area Classification (ATEX / IECEx) standards, specifically for chlorine-rich environments, to mitigate risks in volatile process areas.
3. Commissioning & Operational Support
Testing & Startup: Support the commissioning phase, performing rigorous troubleshooting and power factor correction to ensure system stability.
Load Management: Perform complex electrical load calculations to prevent system overloads and optimize energy efficiency within the plant.
Vendor & Contractor Management: Serve as the primary technical liaison, managing contractors and vendors to ensure deliverables meet stringent project timelines and quality benchmarks.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: B.E / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering (Mandatory).
Experience: 8 – 10 years of proven experience in chemical or process plants.
Industry Focus: Direct experience in FEED & EPC execution of electrical systems. Candidates with Chlor-Alkali experience are highly preferred.
Technical Skills & Competencies
Software Proficiency: Expert-level use of AutoCAD and specialized electrical design software.
Specialized Knowledge: Deep understanding of transformers, switchgear, protection relays, and motor control centers (MCC).
Hazardous Environments: Mastery of ATEX/IECEx standards for chlorine areas.
Soft Skills: Strong ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams and manage complex vendor relationships.
