Job Description:
Financial Systems & Strategy
System Implementation: Design and set up a comprehensive accounting system to gather and analyze financial data across all farm operations (crop/livestock cycles, input costs, and yields).
Budgetary Control: Assist the Managing Director in annual budget planning, income forecasting, and strict expenditure control to optimize farm profitability.
Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and annual financial statements, ensuring the MD and Board of Directors have timely data for strategic decision-making.
Treasury & Tax Governance
Reconciliation: Oversee monthly reconciliation of all bank accounts and proactively resolve any outstanding reconciliation items.
Statutory Compliance: Ensure 100% accuracy and timely filing of all statutory returns, including PAYE, Pensions, NSITF, and relevant WHT/VAT to tax authorities.
Payroll Oversight: Review monthly payroll schedules, ensuring accurate statutory deductions and prompt remittance to respective bodies.
Operational & Asset Management
Stock & Inventory Control: Manage the farm’s stock-related issues, including the tracking of inputs (seeds, feed, fertilizer) and the valuation of biological assets/harvested produce.
Asset Safeguarding: Maintain an accurate and complete fixed asset register, ensuring all company equipment and property are managed and tracked effectively.
Audit Leadership: Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors, providing all necessary documentation and information for interim and final audits.
Requirements:
Industry Knowledge: Previous experience in Farm Accounting, Manufacturing, or FMCG is highly desirable.
Core Competencies
Advanced Accounting Knowledge: Proficiency in IFRS and agricultural accounting standards (IAS 41).
Leadership: Ability to enforce Finance SOPs and lead a multi-disciplinary team.
Technical Skills: Expert proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAGE, QuickBooks, or ERPs) and advanced Excel.
Integrity: Unwavering ethical standards in handling large-scale agricultural funds and stock.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: HND or B.Sc. in Accountancy or Finance.
Professional Certification: Must be a Chartered Accountant (ICAN or ACCA).
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Head of Accounts/Finance or in a senior management role.
