Job Description:
We are seeking a highly disciplined and detail-oriented Chartered Accountant to lead our financial department. In this role, you will be responsible for more than just ledger management; you will be a strategic partner in ensuring the growth and sustainability of our pharmacy operations. You will oversee the full accounting cycle—from rigorous inventory reconciliation and cost control to high-level tax compliance and statutory filings. The ideal candidate possesses the analytical depth to provide actionable financial insights and the integrity to maintain our high standards of regulatory compliance.
Requirements:
1. Financial Reporting & Controls
Comprehensive Accounting: Prepare and maintain precise financial records, general ledgers, and subsidiary accounts.
Reporting Cycle: Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring they meet International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Cash Flow & Budgeting: Oversee proactive cash flow management, budgeting, and financial forecasting to ensure operational liquidity.
2. Specialized Pharmacy Accounting
Inventory Reconciliation: Manage complex inventory accounting specifically for pharmacy operations, ensuring that stock levels, expiries, and valuations are reconciled with financial records.
Cost Efficiency: Monitor operational expenses and implement cost-control measures to improve overall financial efficiency and margins.
Audit Coordination: Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors and regulatory bodies, ensuring all audits are completed transparently and on schedule.
3. Taxation & Statutory Compliance
Regulatory Mastery: Ensure 100% compliance with Nigerian Tax Laws (VAT, WHT, CIT) and all statutory filings.
Policy Enforcement: Develop and maintain internal financial policies that safeguard company assets and ensure ethical financial conduct.
Strategic Analysis: Provide management with data-driven financial analysis to support long-term business decisions.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Credentials & Education
Certification: Must be a Chartered Accountant (ICAN or ACCA).
Professional History: 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience, with a strong preference for candidates from Pharmacy, Retail, or FMCG sectors.
Demographics: Must be under 40 years of age to align with the current team structure.
Technical Competencies
Tax Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Nigerian financial regulatory landscape and tax codes.
Software Proficiency: Mastery of Microsoft Excel and hands-on experience with modern Accounting Software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or SAP).
Analytical Prowess: Ability to interpret complex financial data and translate it into clear, actionable reports.
