Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and commercially aware Financial Accountant to take ownership of our financial ecosystem. This role is central to our financial control, reporting accuracy, and long-term sustainability. Beyond managing ledgers, you will act as a guardian of our internal controls and a strategic partner to management, providing the data-driven insights necessary for informed decision-making. The ideal candidate blends technical expertise in Nigerian tax regulations with the analytical mindset needed to optimize cost structures and enhance cash flow.
Requirements:
1. Financial Reporting & Ledger Integrity
Reporting Excellence: Prepare and manage accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS standards.
Ledger Management: Maintain the general ledger, ensuring all sub-ledgers (Accounts Payable/Receivable) are reconciled and accurate.
Bank Reconciliation: Perform rigorous monthly bank reconciliations and monitor real-time cash flow to ensure operational liquidity.
2. Regulatory Compliance & Taxation
Tax Management: Handle all federal and state tax filings, ensuring 100% compliance with FIRS and State BIR requirements (VAT, WHT, CIT, etc.).
Statutory Remittances: Oversee the timely processing of all statutory remittances, including pension, NSITF, and ITF.
Audit Readiness: Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, facilitating smooth annual audits through meticulous record-keeping.
3. Commercial Analysis & Internal Control
Cost Control: Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost-control initiatives to identify areas for operational savings.
Policy Enforcement: Ensure strict adherence to internal financial controls and company policies to mitigate risk and prevent fraud.
Decision Support: Analyze financial data and trends to provide management with actionable insights for business growth.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education & Experience
Academic Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Proven Tenure: 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience in a structured corporate environment.
Professional Credentials: Professional certification (e.g., ICAN or ACCA) is a significant advantage.
Technical & Core Competencies
Regulatory Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of Nigerian Tax Laws and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Software Proficiency: Mastery of Microsoft Excel (Advanced functions) and proficiency in modern Accounting Software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or SAP).
Ethics: High level of integrity, professional skepticism, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate financial data to non-finance stakeholders.
