Job Description:

A leading furniture manufacturing company based in Enugu is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to lead our financial operations. In this role, you will be responsible for the integrity of our financial data—from managing the complex costs of raw materials (timber, fabrics, hardware) to overseeing the depreciation of our manufacturing machinery. You will act as a strategic partner to management, providing the reliable financial insights needed to drive production efficiency and ensure long-term sustainability.

Requirements:

1. General Ledger & Reporting

• Financial Integrity: Maintain and update comprehensive financial records, general ledgers, and day-to-day bookkeeping.

• Periodic Reporting: Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to track the health of the manufacturing operation.

• Payroll Management: Ensure all staff, from factory floor to management, are paid accurately and on schedule, including relevant statutory deductions.

2. Manufacturing & Inventory Controls

• Inventory Reporting: Manage the accounting for raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished furniture pieces.

• Asset Management: Maintain the fixed asset register, ensuring accurate depreciation schedules for factory machinery, tools, and delivery vehicles.

• Cost Analysis: Track production expenses and analyze financial data to provide recommendations for waste reduction and operational efficiency.

3. Receivables, Payables & Compliance

• Cash Flow Management: Support budgeting and forecasting while managing accounts payable, invoicing, and bank reconciliations.

• Tax & Statutory Compliance: Ensure 100% compliance with Nigerian accounting standards (IFRS), federal/state tax regulations (VAT, WHT, CIT), and internal controls.

• External Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for auditors, tax authorities, and financial institutions.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education & Experience

• Academic Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Proven Tenure: 2–5 years of relevant accounting experience (prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting is a significant advantage).

• Professional Credentials: Professional certification (e.g., ICAN, ACCA) is a strong plus.

Technical Competencies

• Software Proficiency: High level of proficiency in QuickBooks, Sage, or similar ERP/Accounting software.

• Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret complex data and maintain a high level of accuracy under pressure.

• Ethics: Unwavering integrity, professionalism, and the ability to handle sensitive financial data with strict confidentiality.
