Job Description:

We are seeking a results-driven Merchant Sales Manager to lead our merchant acquisition and retention efforts. In this role, you will be the primary driver of our growth in the digital payments space, leading a high-performing team of Business Developers (BDs) to onboard, activate, and scale our merchant network. You are a strategic leader who understands the entire merchant value chain—from initial POS deployment to long-term transaction growth. If you have a proven track record in fintech sales and the ability to turn market insights into revenue, we want you to lead our team.

Requirements:

1. Sales Leadership & Strategic Execution

  • Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of Business Developers (BDs) to consistently hit and exceed acquisition and retention targets.

  • Growth Strategy: Develop and execute regional strategies focused on merchant onboarding, instant activation, and maximizing transaction volume.

  • Expansion Research: Conduct continuous market analysis to identify untapped territories and opportunities for service improvement.

2. Merchant Ecosystem & Retention

  • Portfolio Health: Oversee the performance of existing merchants, implementing engagement tactics to drive high activity levels and drastically reduce churn.

  • Key Account Management: Build and nurture high-value relationships with "anchor" merchants and strategic business partners.

  • Value Chain Optimization: Deeply understand and optimize the merchant experience, ensuring our POS and digital payment solutions are the preferred choice in the market.

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Compliance

  • Operational Synergy: Work closely with Product, Risk, and Marketing teams to streamline the onboarding process and ensure a friction-free merchant experience.

  • Data-Driven Insights: Track KPIs and prepare granular performance reports that provide the executive team with actionable insights for market penetration.

  • Regulatory Rigor: Ensure all merchant activities and team operations comply with company policies and industry regulations (CBN, NIBSS, etc.).

Qualifications and Skills:

Experience & Background

  • History: Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience in Fintech, Payments, Agent Banking, or FMCG field sales.

  • Industry Mastery: Strong understanding of the POS business, digital payment ecosystems, and the merchant value chain.

  • Leadership: A proven track record of managing field sales teams and delivering on aggressive revenue or acquisition targets.

Education & Soft Skills

  • Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.

  • Communication: Exceptional negotiation and relationship-management skills.

  • Mindset: Ability to thrive and adapt in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
