Job Description:
Touchstone Paints is seeking a meticulous Account Clerk to join our core Finance function. This role is designed for a professional who views bookkeeping as the foundation of strategic decision-making. You will be responsible for the accuracy of our financial records, ensuring that every transaction—from raw material procurement to finished product sales—is captured with precision. Beyond data entry, you will support our compliance framework and contribute to the performance management initiatives that drive our growth in the competitive paint manufacturing market.
Requirements:
1. Ledger Integrity & Transaction Management
Comprehensive Bookkeeping: Maintain the general ledger, managing the full cycle of Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
Cash Flow Governance: Perform rigorous bank reconciliations and ensure the timely processing of supplier invoices and payment approvals.
Receivables Management: Monitor customer accounts closely, implementing effective follow-up procedures to optimize the company’s liquidity.
2. Financial Reporting & Analysis
Reporting Support: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements that reflect the company's true performance.
Variance Analysis: Support the budgeting and forecasting process by identifying discrepancies between actual spend and planned budgets.
Data Integrity: Liaise with the production and sales departments to ensure that operational data aligns perfectly with financial records.
3. Compliance & Audit Readiness
Statutory Stewardship: Assist with Nigerian regulatory requirements, including the preparation of tax filings and compliance documentation.
Internal Controls: Implement and maintain best practices for internal financial controls to prevent leakage and ensure ethical standards.
Audit Liaison: Serve as a key support during external audits, providing the necessary documentation and technical explanations to auditors.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of practical accounting experience. Experience within the Manufacturing or FMCG sectors is highly preferred.
Certification: Progress toward or completion of professional certifications (ICAN, ACCA) is a significant advantage.
Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of Nigerian tax regulations and IFRS/local accounting standards.
Technical & Soft Skills
Software Mastery: Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, or SAP, alongside advanced MS Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables).
Analytical Mindset: High numerical accuracy with the ability to spot trends and irregularities in financial data.
Ethics: Uncompromising commitment to integrity and confidentiality.
