Job Description:
We are seeking a high-precision Estate Accountant to oversee the financial health and reporting of our property portfolios. This is a specialized role requiring a master of reconciliations who can manage the complex flow of service charges, utility recoveries, and vendor payments across multiple estate accounts. You will be responsible for ensuring that resident funds are accounted for with 100% accuracy, providing the financial transparency that underpins effective facility management. If you are detail-oriented and thrive in managing high-volume sub-ledger accounts, this role offers a strategic position within our finance team.
Requirements:
1. Estate Revenue & Ledger Management
Collections Tracking: Manage the end-to-end accounting for estate income, including service charges, security levies, and utility collections.
Sub-Account Stewardship: Maintain individual estate ledgers, ensuring that resident billings, invoices, and outstanding balances are updated in real-time.
Specialized Reporting: Prepare estate-specific Income and Expenditure reports to provide residents and management with clarity on fund utilization.
2. Advanced Reconciliations (Core Focus)
Multi-Account Reconciliation: Perform rigorous bank reconciliations for numerous estate-specific and corporate accounts.
Shared Cost Allocation: Reconcile utility expenses, payroll inputs, and shared service costs across different estates to ensure fair and accurate allocation.
Vendor Integrity: Reconcile vendor invoices against service contracts and work completion certificates to prevent overpayment or fraud.
3. Payables & Financial Controls
Vendor Management: Process invoices and prepare payment schedules for service providers (security, cleaning, technical) while maintaining accurate statement records.
Internal Controls: Support audit processes by maintaining meticulous financial documentation and ensuring all transactions follow established SOPs.
Cost Control: Assist in budgeting and tracking contract costs to ensure the estate operates within its financial means.
4. Strategic Reporting & Insights
Performance Analysis: Provide weekly and monthly financial insights into estate performance and cost trends.
Audit Readiness: Prepare comprehensive schedules and reports for internal and external auditors, ensuring zero-gap documentation.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education & Professional Status
Degree: Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accounting or Finance.
Experience: 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience.
Sector Advantage: Prior experience in Estate Accounting, Facility Management, or Property Management is a strong advantage.
Certification: Being a qualified accountant (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
Technical Competencies
Advanced Excel: Mastery of formulas, VLOOKUPs, and pivot tables specifically for high-volume reconciliations.
Software: Proven experience with modern accounting software (e.g., SAGE, QuickBooks, or specialized Property Management ERPs).
Analytical Precision: Ability to investigate and resolve complex reconciliation discrepancies promptly.
