Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Internal Auditor to serve as a key guardian of our organization’s financial and operational integrity. In this role, you will be responsible for safeguarding company assets, ensuring strict compliance with Nigerian regulatory frameworks, and driving efficiency at both our Head Office and various project sites across Nigeria. The ideal candidate is a rigorous professional with a deep understanding of the unique risks associated with the construction industry—such as procurement fraud and contract irregularities—and possesses the analytical prowess to strengthen our internal control environment.
Requirements:
1. Financial & Operational Audit Management
Comprehensive Auditing: Conduct systematic audits of financial records, departmental processes, and procurement cycles to ensure transparency and accuracy.
Project Site Governance: Perform regular on-site audits at project locations to verify material usage, labor costs, and adherence to operational standards.
Control Strengthening: Advise on and implement robust internal controls to mitigate risks and improve the reliability of financial reporting.
2. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Mitigation
Legal Stewardship: Monitor and ensure full compliance with Nigerian tax laws, labor laws, and construction industry-specific regulations.
Risk Identification: Proactively detect and investigate red flags related to fraud, material misappropriation, and contract discrepancies.
Technical Reporting: Prepare clear, data-backed audit reports and present critical findings to senior management with actionable recommendations.
3. Departmental Excellence & Continuous Improvement
Process Optimization: Audit all internal departmental workflows to identify bottlenecks and suggest improvements for operational efficiency.
Corrective Action Tracking: Rigorously follow up on previous audit findings to ensure that corrective actions have been successfully implemented.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education & Professional Standing
Academic: First degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Certification: Professional certification (ACA, ACCA, or CIA) is highly preferred.
Tenure: Minimum of 5 years of auditing experience, with at least 2 years specifically within the construction or project-based sector.
Technical & Soft Skills
Industry IQ: Deep knowledge of procurement auditing and project-site risk factors.
Digital Literacy: Proficiency in Audit Software, ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics), and Microsoft Office.
Core Competencies: Exceptional analytical skills, unwavering integrity, and the ability to communicate complex findings to diverse stakeholders.
