Job Description:
We are seeking a vigilant and proactive Safety Officer to serve as the guardian of our workplace health, safety, and environmental standards. You will be instrumental in fostering a "safety-first" culture by identifying risks, enforcing compliance, and ensuring that every member of our team returns home safely. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional who can seamlessly translate complex regulatory requirements into actionable, on-site safety protocols.
Requirements:
Policy Implementation: Implement and monitor Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies to ensure they meet both internal standards and local regulatory requirements.
Hazard & Risk Management: Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and rigorous risk assessments to proactively identify and mitigate potential hazards.
Incident Investigation: Lead thorough investigations into accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, providing detailed root cause analysis and corrective action plans.
Training & Awareness: Facilitate safety inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns to keep safety top-of-mind for employees and contractors.
PPE & Compliance: Manage the procurement and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and oversee strict adherence to permit-to-work systems.
Emergency Preparedness: Lead emergency response planning, conduct drills, and ensure the facility is ready for any contingency.
Environmental Stewardship: Oversee waste management, pollution prevention, and sustainability initiatives to minimize our environmental footprint.
Qualifications and Skills:
Requirements & Qualifications
Education: HND or B.Sc. in Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
Experience: 2–5 years of dedicated HSE experience in industries such as construction, manufacturing, oil & gas, or engineering.
Core Competencies:
Technical Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
Analytical Thinking: Sharp skills in root cause analysis and inspection techniques.
Communication: Ability to influence and educate employees at all levels to foster safe behaviors.
Documentation: Exceptional report-writing skills to maintain accurate HSE records and statistics.
Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications.
