Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Remote Bookkeeper to manage our daily financial data and maintain the integrity of our digital ledgers. In this role, you will be the primary custodian of transactional records, ensuring that every naira is accounted for and that our financial reporting remains transparent and accurate.
As an OND-qualified professional, you will support the finance department by handling accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and statutory remittances. This is a fully remote position that requires a self-starter who is disciplined, organized, and possesses a high level of integrity. If you are comfortable working with Excel and accounting software and have a basic understanding of Nigerian tax compliance, we want to hear from you.
Requirements:
1. Ledger Management & Data Integrity
Transactional Recording: Accurately record daily financial transactions and maintain up-to-date General Ledgers.
Payables & Receivables: Manage the end-to-end flow of accounts payable and receivable, ensuring vendors are paid and collections are tracked.
Reconciliation: Perform routine bank reconciliations and proactively resolve any discrepancies between bank statements and internal records.
2. Compliance & Statutory Support
Statutory Remittances: Support the preparation of documentation for PAYE, Pension, and other statutory deductions in line with Nigerian regulations.
Audit Readiness: Maintain a pristine digital filing system for all financial documents, ensuring easy access during audits and financial reviews.
Expense Tracking: Monitor petty cash records and track company expenses to ensure alignment with internal financial policies.
3. Reporting & Remote Coordination
Financial Summaries: Prepare basic weekly and monthly financial summaries to keep management informed of cash flow and performance.
Payroll Support: Assist in the collation of payroll data to ensure timely and accurate salary disbursements.
Communication: Maintain regular communication with the finance team through periodic virtual meetings and digital updates.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: Minimum of an OND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Experience: 1 – 3 years of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting support experience.
Location: Fully Remote (Must possess a functional laptop and stable high-speed internet access).
Core Competencies
Technical IQ: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with basic accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Zoho, or Tally).
Statutory Knowledge: Familiarity with Nigerian tax (LIRS/FIRS) and pension remittance processes.
Integrity: High level of confidentiality and trustworthiness when handling sensitive financial data.
Independence: Ability to meet deadlines and manage tasks without constant physical supervision.
