Job Description:
We are seeking a high-caliber Chief Nursing Officer & Lead Midwife to provide strategic and operational leadership to our nursing department. This dual-mandate role requires a seasoned clinician who can manage a diverse nursing team while providing expert, hands-on obstetric and neonatal care. As the primary custodian of International Patient Safety Goals (IPSG), you will work directly with the Medical Director to set the standard for clinical excellence. Requirements:
1. Clinical Governance & Nursing Leadership
Departmental Coordination: Direct the daily operations of the nursing department, ensuring optimal staffing, resource allocation, and adherence to Hospital Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Safety & Quality Standards: Maintain a "zero-compromise" approach to IPSG compliance and infection control protocols.
Continuous Medical Education (CME): Organize and lead weekly nursing CMEs to ensure the team remains at the cutting edge of clinical practices and medical technology.
2. Advanced Obstetric & Maternal Care
Comprehensive Midwifery: Provide end-to-end prenatal and postnatal care, including complex screening tests and postpartum recovery monitoring.
Labor Management: Oversee the labor process, providing expert guidance on pain management options and ensuring maternal and fetal well-being.
Risk Mitigation: Expertly identify high-risk pregnancies and facilitate immediate referrals to relevant consultants or medical specialists.
3. Multi-Disciplinary Collaboration & Patient Care
Strategic Partnership: Collaborate with the Medical Director, Consultants, and HMO Officers to streamline patient journeys and improve the quality of healthcare delivery.
Clinical Records Integrity: Ensure the maintenance of accurate, complete, and legally defensible healthcare records and reports.
Active Patient Management: Administer medications, monitor for side effects, record vital signs, and order necessary diagnostic tests to support physician treatment plans.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Experience
Experience: Minimum of 6 years of progressive working experience in a reputable hospital setting, with significant experience in both general nursing and midwifery.
Credentials: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) and Registered Midwife (RM) licenses. Additional certifications in Nursing Administration or Public Health are a plus.
Core Competencies
Leadership & Mentorship: Proven ability to provide training and guidance for junior colleagues and nursing students.
Crisis Management: Ability to remain calm and decisive during obstetric emergencies or clinical escalations.
Analytical Skills: Proficiency in interpreting diagnostic results and monitoring changes in patient conditions.
Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills for liaising with consultants, admin teams, and HMO representatives.
