Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Well Engineer to join our technical team in Lagos. This is a critical, on-site role responsible for the full lifecycle of well operations—from initial design and the preparation of complex drilling programs to active oversight of well construction activities. You will ensure that all operations are executed with technical precision, adhering to the highest safety and environmental standards while optimizing performance and cost-efficiency.

The ideal candidate is a technical leader with a deep understanding of subsurface complexities and a proven track record of managing drilling operations in challenging environments.

Requirements:

Well Design & Engineering

• Technical Design: Lead the design phase of wells, ensuring all specifications meet production goals and geological requirements.

• Drilling Programs: Prepare detailed, high-accuracy drilling programs and operational procedures for execution.

• Simulation & Analysis: Utilize advanced software tools for well simulation and analysis to predict performance and mitigate risks.

• Technical Studies: Conduct in-depth technical studies to support long-term well integrity and performance optimization.

Operational Oversight & Support

• On-site Supervision: Provide real-time, on-site support during drilling operations to ensure compliance with the approved engineering plan.

• Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Partner with geologists, reservoir engineers, and project managers to ensure seamless integration across all phases of the well lifecycle.

• Efficiency Optimization: Regularly review drilling processes and operational workflows to identify opportunities for increased efficiency and reduced environmental impact.

Safety & Compliance

• Technical Assurance: Serve as a guardian of technical assurance, ensuring every aspect of well construction meets international and local oil and gas industry standards.

• HSE & Environmental Standards: Enforce strict compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations to minimize operational risk and impact.

• Documentation: Maintain comprehensive engineering records, project reports, and regulatory compliance documentation.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education & Experience

• Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.

• Experience: 8–10 years of direct experience in Well Design, Drilling Operations, and Well Construction.

• Certification: Relevant professional certifications in drilling or well engineering (e.g., IWCF) are a significant advantage.

Technical & Professional Skills

• Software Proficiency: Expert command of software tools for well design, simulation, and analysis.

• Project Management: Strong ability to manage complex project timelines and multidisciplinary stakeholders.

• Problem-Solving: Exceptional analytical skills to resolve technical challenges during active drilling phases.
