Job Description:

We are seeking an analytically rigorous, details-driven, and highly autonomous Virtual Senior Accountant to join our international finance team. In this position, you will take full ownership of our remote accounting architecture, cross-border general ledger activities, and compliance frameworks. You will move beyond basic bookkeeping, taking on the responsibility of solving complex international financial puzzles, managing cash flow optimization across fluid shipping operations, and translating multi-currency data into actionable strategic insights for executive leadership.

Requirements:

1. Financial Engineering & Corporate Reporting

  • End-to-End Reporting: Structural management and execution of comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting cycles.

  • Statement Synthesis: Prepare, analyze, and verify balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, executing rigorous multi-currency reconciliations across global business nodes.

  • General Ledger Oversight: Audit and streamline accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), intercompany transfers, and core general ledger transactions.

2. Strategic Insights & Fiscal Optimization

  • Variance Analysis: Conduct systematic monthly variance analysis, mapping actual operational expenditures against baseline corporate budgets to flag anomalies.

  • Cash Flow Architecture: Monitor global maritime cash flows, optimizing liquid capital performance and handling complex, multi-currency vendor disbursements across localized shipping ports.

  • Forward Planning: Provide data-backed financial insights to support robust budgeting, rolling corporate forecasting, and long-term financial planning (FP&A) workflows.

3. Compliance, Controls & Audit Readiness

  • Regulatory Compliance: Enforce absolute structural alignment with international accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP), cross-border maritime tax regulations, and internal corporate controls.

  • Audit Stewardship: Maintain immaculate, easily retrievable digital accounting documentation and ledger archives to ensure seamless, friction-free annual external audit processes.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner remotely with operations, port logisticians, and leadership teams to identify operational leakages and continuously improve overall corporate financial efficiency.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education & Professional Credentials

  • Degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline from an accredited university.

  • Professional Certification: Active professional certification such as ACCA, ICAN, CPA, or an equivalent charter is highly advantageous and will be weighted heavily during evaluation.

Experience & Industry Domain

  • Track Record: Minimum of 2+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong preference for candidates who have operated within logistics, maritime shipping, freight forwarding, or international supply chain industries.

  • Remote Competency: Proven capability to operate productively and independently within a fast-paced, highly collaborative virtual team environment.
