Job Description:

We are seeking a high-caliber Creditor Relations & Funding Officer to manage and optimize our bank’s borrowing portfolio. In this role, you will be the primary custodian of our relationships with local and international creditors, including DFIs, correspondent banks, and institutional lenders. You will ensure the seamless execution of drawdowns, rollovers, and repayments while maintaining rigorous oversight of financial covenants. The ideal candidate is a Chartered Accountant with deep treasury experience who can balance technical reporting with the strategic negotiation skills needed to optimize our funding mix.

Requirements:

1. Funding Lifecycle & Portfolio Management

  • Transaction Execution: Coordinate the end-to-end process for drawdowns, rollovers, and repayments in strict alignment with approved schedules and liquidity requirements.

  • Funding Optimization: Support the Head of Treasury in balancing the funding mix across key variables: Tenor, Pricing, Currency, and Concentration.

  • Cash Flow Management: Lead the preparation and monitoring of monthly cash flow projections to ensure the bank meets all institutional obligations without friction.

2. Covenant Compliance & Regulatory Oversight

  • Covenant Monitoring: Diligently track both financial and non-financial covenants under all loan agreements, ensuring the bank remains in good standing.

  • Risk Escalation: Act as an early-warning system by promptly escalating potential covenant breaches or funding risks to the Head of Treasury.

  • Audit & Due Diligence: Serves as the technical lead for borrowings during internal/external audits, regulatory reviews, and creditor due diligence exercises.

3. Strategic Reporting & Relationship Management

  • Relationship Stewardship: Manage day-to-day engagement with existing creditors, ensuring they receive timely reports and information as per legal agreements.

  • ALCO Contribution: Prepare high-level reports for the Asset and Liability Committee (ALCO) and provide data-driven inputs for papers on liquidity and concentration risks.

  • Negotiation Support: Provide analytical support during negotiations regarding pricing, term sheet conditions, and debt restructuring where applicable.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education & Professional Standing

  • Academic Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

  • Mandatory Certification: Must be a Chartered Accountant (ACA mandatory).

  • Proven Tenure: Minimum of 5–8 years of experience in banking operations or treasury management.

Technical Competencies

  • Treasury Mastery: Deep understanding of money market instruments, DFI funding structures, and correspondent banking.

  • Risk Acumen: Strong knowledge of liquidity risk management and ALM (Asset-Liability Management) principles.

  • Legal Literacy: Ability to interpret complex loan agreements and term sheets.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to liaise effectively with Finance, Risk, Legal, and Compliance units.
