Job Description:

We are seeking a strategic and process-driven Head of Operations to lead our bank’s operational heartbeat. In this critical leadership role, you will be responsible for the seamless execution of all customer transactions, the integrity of our cash management systems, and the strict enforcement of regulatory compliance. You will act as the bridge between our Core Banking System (BankOne) and our service delivery standards, ensuring that our operations are not only efficient but also fortified against fraud and operational risk. The ideal candidate brings over 5 years of banking experience, a deep mastery of BankOne, and the leadership gravitas to mentor a high-performing operations team.

Requirements:

1. Operational Excellence & Transaction Management

• Service Delivery: Oversee the efficient processing of all customer transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and high-volume loan disbursements.

• Core Banking Mastery: Drive the effective use of BankOne and our digital channels, identifying system challenges and leading process improvements to eliminate inefficiencies.

• Settlement & Reconciliation: Ensure the timely and accurate reconciliation of all operational and settlement accounts to maintain financial integrity.

2. Risk Management & Regulatory Compliance

• Regulatory Stewardship: Ensure 100% compliance with Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) requirements, AML/CFT, KYC, and consumer protection guidelines.

• Internal Controls: Implement and monitor robust internal controls and vault procedures to mitigate operational, liquidity, and fraud risks.

• Transaction Oversight: Enforce strict adherence to approved transaction limits and authorization levels across all branches and units.

• Business Continuity: Maintain and test disaster recovery readiness to ensure the bank’s operations remain resilient under all conditions.

• 3. Strategic Leadership & People Management

• Team Mentorship: Lead, mentor, and evaluate the operations staff, fostering a culture of accountability, integrity, and extreme customer focus.

• Performance Monitoring: Set and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for operational units to ensure adherence to global service delivery standards.

• Issue Resolution: Act as the final point of escalation for complex operational challenges and customer service grievances.

Qualifications and Skills:

Mandatory Experience

• Software Proficiency: MUST have hands-on experience using BankOne software.

• Professional Tenure: Minimum of 5–13 years’ experience in banking or microfinance.

• Leadership Experience: At least 2–5 years in a Management/Senior position overseeing banking operations.

Education & Certifications

• Academic Background: Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

• Preferred Credentials: Professional qualifications (e.g., ICAN, ACCA, CPA, MCIB) or an MBA are highly advantageous.

Core Competencies

• Regulatory Expertise: In-depth knowledge of the microfinance banking regulatory landscape in Nigeria.

• Analytical Skills: Strong ability to identify process gaps and drive system-wide improvements.

• Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional leadership and communication abilities.
