Job Description:
We are seeking a high-precision Senior Accountant to serve as the financial engine of our engineering and manufacturing operations. This is a comprehensive role (4+ years experience) designed for a "Technical Controller"—someone who excels at the intersection of traditional accounting, tax compliance, and industrial inventory management.
Operating from our Lagos office, you will be responsible for the integrity of our entire ledger—from managing complex vendor payables and engineering project spending to overseeing intricate inventory reconciliations (Raw Materials, WIP, and Finished Goods). If you have the analytical depth to manage "Pioneer Status" projections and the professional rigor to handle statutory audits and tax remittances (WHT, PAYE, VAT), we want you to lead our financial operations.
Requirements:
1. Industrial Inventory & Cost Management
Inventory Governance: Lead monthly spot checks and quarterly reconciliations across Raw Materials, Work-in-Progress (WIP), and Finished Goods, managing adjustments and closing open items.
Project Optimization: Take commercial ownership of project analysis by partnering with Project Managers to track and optimize engineering expenditures.
Asset & Prepayment Control: Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and Prepayment schedules, ensuring accurate monthly depreciation and amortization on the ERP.
2. Payables, Receivables & Treasury
Vendor Stewardship: Manage the full accounts payable cycle, ensuring accurate vendor ledgers, prompt payment processing, and periodic review of vendor deposits.
Revenue Tracking: Assist with client invoicing and the tracking of receivables to ensure healthy cash flow and timely collections.
Liability Management: Prepare loan amortization schedules and reconcile finance charge expenses on the ERP to maintain debt compliance.
3. Tax Strategy & Statutory Compliance
Tax Remittance: Compute and remit all statutory obligations, including WHT, PAYE, and VAT, via the FIRS portal, ensuring 100% compliance.
Pioneer Status Management: Assist in the financial projections and reporting required for Pioneer Status incentives, ensuring the company maximizes available tax reliefs.
Audit Leadership: Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors during statutory audit cycles, ensuring all journal postings and supporting documents are forensic-ready.
Qualifications and Skills:
Professional Profile
Education: First degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience, preferably in a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial sector.
Technical Mastery: Deep proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Odoo, Sage) and advanced Excel for inventory accounting and financial modeling.
Core Competencies
Tax Intelligence: In-depth understanding of Nigerian tax laws and FIRS portal operations.
Meticulous Record-Keeping: A "Zero-Error" approach to journal postings and purchase order documentation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to translate complex financial data for the Engineering and Project Management teams.
