Job Description:
- The role is responsible for supervising production staff, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards, meeting production targets, and minimizing downtime and wastage.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Shift Supervision:
- Supervise daily production activities to meet assigned output targets.
- Allocate manpower effectively and manage shift activities.
- Ensure production schedules are followed and targets are achieved
- Monitor machine performance and escalate issues promptly.
Quality Control & Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and SOPs.
- Conduct in-process quality checks and report deviations.
- Ensure products meet internal quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support NAFDAC and SON inspections when required.
Equipment & Maintenance Support:
- Carry out basic equipment checks and coordinate with maintenance teams.
- Reduce downtime by promptly reporting breakdowns and supporting repairs.
- Ensure proper handling and cleaning of machines and tools.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):
- Enforce safety rules and proper use of PPE on the shop floor.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Report accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
People Management & Reporting:
- Supervise and motivate production operators and line workers.
- Monitor attendance, punctuality, and discipline of production staff.
- Train new operators and support skill development.
- Prepare daily production and shift reports.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Daily and monthly production output vs target.
- Machine uptime and downtime during the shift.
- Wastage and rework levels.
- Quality defects and non-conformance incidents.
- Compliance with GMP and SOPs.
- Health & safety incidents on shift.
- Staff attendance and productivity levels.
- Accuracy and timeliness of production reports.
Requirements:
- Strong supervisory and team-leading skills.
- Good understanding of shop-floor operations.
- Attention to detail and a quality-focused mindset.
- Ability to work in shifts and under pressure to meet production deadlines
- Good communication and reporting skills.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or HND in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Food Science &Technology, Chemical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 3–4 years’ experience in manufacturing FMCG, preferably.
- At least 1–3 years in a supervisory role.
